SAP EHS Management for Beginners // Part 2
Introduction
in the last months I have had many issues in updating document:
SAP EHS Management for Beginners
Therefore I decided now to generate a second part of the main document.
What is new?
1.) SAP has now shared the last online help for current release of SAP ERP Enhancement Package 8 (SAP ERP 6.0 – SAP Help Portal Page)
2.) Some discussions has been seen regarding S/4 HANA (e.g. EHS S4 Hana 1511 Integration capabilities)
3.) We have now a new S/4 HANA version available (Release 1909); SAP still is on track to create a new product. Now terms are changing; If you are interested in module e.g. EHS-BD ==> Check now the new terms ! EHS, as a term, does have now different content !
But still nearly the same topics are discussed as in the past as the “top 10” (roughly like):
- WWI
- GLM
- Component Extension for SAP ERP Management
- How to start EHS career
- How to start EHS project (including cut over)
- …
Once again some examples of discussions seen in the last months so that you may be have a kind of idea:
S/4 HANA

Generally
So the discussion has nearly focused on the top 10 topics in most cases. Some interesting discussion has been seen in context of use of EHS (or similar solution) together with SAP BusinessOne. And clearly there is current a hype on S/4 HANA (and SAP Fiori); or genrally on HANA architecture; but topic of “Content”, “Data handling” etc. is of interest as well. Reason is simple. once a year roughly in the world we can see at least one country installing the “GHS” principle or using a kind of “REACh” approach (last example: Korea). The demands in context of data sharing within industry and with authourity is growing as well.v (e.g. read: http://help.sap.com/saphelpiis_EHS_ESCOM/EHS_Data_Mapping_for_ESComXML_Files.pdf). Therefore “XML” does have a “hype” as well and automatic interface to avoid manual work.
In most cases EHS project might concentrate now on:
- Upgrade/Updateprojects to use the recent SAP features
- Consolidation of SAP landscape to reduce IT costs
- Automations (more rulesets, use of content etc.)
- GLM projects
- Strategy projects for preparation to migrate to S/4 HANA etc.
- Consider current changes in legislation of many kind
Let us see what will come next.
