Certification in the Cloud News for MAC users
The Global SAP Certification in the Cloud Program has been dealing with issues related to incompatibility in MACs to run Certification exams in the cloud. Due to the nature of Adobe Flash in the Questionmark application’s browser, this causes a primary issue for our MAC users.
The Global SAP Certification team has valued the partnership with Questionmark for many years now from deploying our own internal assessment exams for our SAP consultants and more recently our move to offering Certification in the Cloud
.
Please read Questionmark’s official statement below:
Questionmark has long been committed to providing best-in-class, hassle-free secure online assessment delivery to the Mac and iOS platforms – with Questionmark Secure for Mac and Questionmark Secure for iPad available in Apple’s App stores for several years running. More recently, we have made (and continue to make) substantial investment in developing a new Questionmark Secure for Mac app that meets objectives including:
- Ensure an intuitive, reliable and secure experience for candidates taking online proctored exams
- Comply with Apple’s requirements for the Mac App store
- Comply with Apple’s requirements for running on the latest hardware and operating system versions
Unfortunately, Questionmark is still working to achieve the latter of these objectives. Although we realize that the intransigent nature of App Store requirements may occasionally result in inconvenience to our customers, we respect and share Apple’s commitment to being at the vanguard of safe, secure and reliable web standards.
Please rest assured that we are working diligently to overcome the technical hurdles and expect to soon deliver an app that meets the needs of both the security needs of the certification community as well as requirements of the Mac App store.
In the meantime, we’d like to offer some options for our MAC users looking to complete any Certifications in the cloud:
- By simply logging into the SAP Training & Certification webshop on ANY PC, you can conduct the exam. As long as you have time to prepare the specific PC and conduct the specific system checks, find a friend or colleague who has a PC you could borrow when you sit for the exam
- Access to a local library or other public computer could offer PC availability and allow you to complete the exam by simply logging in with your S user on the SAP Training & Certification webshop as long as it passes the specific hardware and system checks and fulfills the requirement for a quiet environment without disturbance
- If neither of these options are a possibility, we would be happy to host you at a local SAP office and provide PC and internet access to you to sit for the exam. Simply contact your local Education Team and we will work with you to arrange the details
We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and hope that these interim options will suite our MAC users for the time being. We continue to make this issue a priority to ensure that all our Certification in the cloud can be delivered successfully in the future.
Hard to believe the 3 options are "Find a Friend", "Find a Quiet Spot in a Public Library" or go to a local SAP Office due to "valued partner" not being able to offer a suitable solution in a timely manner. It is obvious it is not a priority as this issue was brought up in Q3 of 2015.
Jarret, this has been a priority, but the development teams were unable to solve the compatibility issues with the current technologies, as communicated by Questionmark. Test accessibility is a high priority, and while not ideal, the ability to use a non MAC device does provide an interim option while the new development is completed.
Hi Mary
Now that another 4 months has passed is there an update on this "priority" item.
Thanks,
Jarret
Hi Jessica or Mary,
same question from my side. Almost half a year has past by since this post, so, did your "diligent" efforts already lead to a solution?
To be honest, "find a friend and borrow a PC" is not a solution, it is an impertinence... especially it this is for more than a couple of weeks.
Thanks a lot...
Rainer
Hi,
Is it possible to run the exams on WTS?
Or will it work with a Windows VM installed on a Mac?
Cheers,
Thomas
HI Jarret and Rainer, last week we did receive a solution from the partners. They were not able to resolve the visual monitoring on the Mac devices, but they have provided an App that can be downloaded on an iphone that will provide the visual monitoring necessary for the remote proctoring of the candidate, with the actual exam being executed on the Mac. We are ready to have candidates use this solution- Mac for testing, iPhone for remote proctoring. Please let us know if you would be interested in this approach and we can work with you to schedule exam.
Thanks,
Molly
GOOD NEWS.... SAP and Questionmark will have a solution for MAC users to take advantage of the remote proctoring featue of the Certification in the Cloud offering using your MAC and an app on your iPhone. This solution will be made available on August 12, 2016. The solution provides the required video and audio connection to the remote proctor while you access and take the exam using your MAC.
To use this solution, download the MegaMeeting mobile app from the Apple app store and install it on your iPhone.
Schedule your exam and the proctor in the Certification Hub. At the time of the exam, you will request a MegaMeeting ID in the exam chat box from the proctor. The proctor will provide you with the MegaMeeting ID that you will use for the audio and video interaction during the exam. You will connect to the proctor using the MetaMeeting app on your iPhone and enter the ID provided by the proctor.
This is how the video interaction will work with the MegaMeeting app:
Once you are connected to MegaMeeting, you will be required to position your iPhone so the proctor can see and hear you and view your testing environment.
We hope this solution will satisfy our MAC users so they can take advantage of all certification exams offered in the Certification in the Cloud.
Best Regards and good luck on your exams!!

SAP Global Certification
Hi Sheri,
this is indeed good news then . I will try and give feedback in coming days.

Dear Santosh,
Good Luck with your certification!!
Sheri
dear Sheri,
I have planned the exam next week and would like to test the phone before I take the exam.
1- Is it possible to test the exam feature with iPhone? I am not sure on font, answers options click and navigation overall on iPhone.
2- Can I use iPad ?
thanks, Santosh
Hello Santosh,
I am checking on options to try out your iPhone before you take your exam next week and will get back to you on that.
However, please understand that you will NOT be taking the exam on your iPhone (or iPad), you will still take the exam on your MAC, with the remote proctor monitoring the exam. The iPhone (or iPad) is only used so the remote proctor can see you and your environment and talk to you as you are taking the exam on your MAC. The navigation of the MegaMeeting mobile app is very straight-forward. I have downloaded it on my iPhone and once you open the MegaMeeting app, it will ask you for an email or a meeting ID. You will get the meeting ID from the proctor when you start the exam. You will enter this meeting ID in the MegaMeeting app and then you will be connected to the proctor.
Please note that the app for the iPhone is called MegaMeeting mobile - not MetaMeeting and you can dowload it from the Apple app store.
I will let you know about options to test this set up as soon as possible.
Best Regards,
Sheri Schaaf
Do you need only an iPhone/iPad or Android mobile app can also be used for monitoring purpose?
