Having freshly stepped into the new year, I would like to take the time to welcome the SAP CodeJam program into its fourth consecutive year. I have had the pleasure of the coordinating these events for almost two years now and I can’t stress it enough how excited I am to see what 2016 brings for us. We kick-started the year with four CodeJam events in four different cities, three different countries and on two different topics. We are grateful to developers like you, that we are able to conduct these event, so thank you!
Topic of the Month: SAP HANA Cloud Integration (HCI) 
SAP CodeJam is designed to focus on a single topic, allowing participants to get familiar with one specific SAP platform or technology at a time. This month our events covered two different topics:

Getting to Know the Expert: Udo Paltzer 
Udo Paltzer has been working for SAP since 2001 and has always been focused on integration topics. “I have been working on SAP HCI right from the start – mid 2012.”
Udo enjoys being a SAP CodeJam expert because the event provides a great opportunity for partners and customers to come together and spend time with an SAP expert on a specific topic. “During a SAP CodeJam you have plenty of time to walk partners and customers through all the details of a product and explain all its capabilities, use cases, architecture and benefits. A SAP CodeJam [event] provides also a great opportunity to have hands-on session on key aspects of SAP products, so that the participants can learn all the details they require to leverage the product capabilities directly in their own projects. Furthermore, SAP CodeJams can happen in principle anywhere in the world, i. e. close to any location of a partner and customer, and during the SAP CodeJams the participants have enough time for networking with their own peers and discuss how to leverage SAP product capabilities they have just learned hands-on.”
While in conversation with Udo, I asked him to share some interesting tips or facts about SAP HANA Cloud Integration and this is what he had to say: “SAP HANA Cloud Integration (SAP HCI) is SAP’s strategic integration platform for the integration of SAP cloud applications, such as S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, SAP Cloud for Customer, Hybris, SAP Financial Services Network, Ariba etc.) with other application, from SAP and non-SAP, cloud or on-premise. SAP HCI runs on top of the SAP HANA Cloud Platform (SAP HCP), both of them are tightly integrated with each other. One of the key benefits of SAP HCI is the prepackaged integration content, which allows customers and partners a jump-start into their integration projects. The wealth of Integration Packages available as of today can be explored at the public content catalog at https://cloudintegration.hana.ondemand.com. Fun Fact: Udo has three boys: “I think the most fun is happening at home with 3 kids, all wild boys and always open for playing around and having fun.”

Not sure what SAP CodeJam is?
SAP CodeJam is a 5 to 6 hours event where a small group of developers get together for an afternoon of networking, learning, and coding in an ultra-casual environment all for free. Attendees get a chance to share and expand their knowledge and collaboratively develop with SAP technologies, platforms and tools under the watchful guidance of an expert. The events are developer community focused and supported by SAP, exploring technologies available through the SAP Developer Center.
How can you request a CodeJam event?
Anyone can host an SAP CodeJam event in their city. If you are interested, please send your request to sapcodejam@sap.com and include the following info in the email: name and email of the local contact person for the event, country and city in which the event will take place, estimated number of attendees (25 – 40), topic of the event, location, 3 possible dates.
