Crystal Reports Installation Instructions (simplified)

Start by saving your Crystal Reports download to your desktop:

The file will be similar in naming convention to: “51047194_CR2013_SP2_WIN32”.  If your downloaded file does not match the contents displayed in the below instructions, please contact your vendor for an alternate download link.

Then Extract the files by “right clicking”, and selecting the “extract to” option

A new folder containing the installation files will appear

Open the new folder

Open the Data_Units folder

Open the CrystalReports folder

Now you will see the “setup.exe” (setup applicaiton), not to be confused with the “setup.ini” (configuration file)

At this time, temporarily disable any anti-virus or firewall software running. Anti-Virus software can cause a variety of errors, including the “Failed to update cache for execution” error.

Run “setup.exe” as an administrator by right clicking and selecting the “Run as administrator” option from the drop down menu

When prompted, select “yes” to allowing this program to make changes to your computer

Select your language

Click “next” if all your prerequisites are met

The installation will now proceed as normal
