Are there Tutorials Available?

Yes! Please proceed to the offical product tutorials available here: Official Product Tutorials – SAP Crystal Reports 2011 / 2013

I am Having Trouble Installing the Program:

Installation and Set-Up Video

Crystal Reports Installation Instructions (simplified)

If your download does not match the files in that instruction, please initiate a chat with www.crystalreports.com or www.sapstore.com or contact your vendor.

If you are still experiencing difficulties, please follow this guide:

http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/cr2013/en/cr13sp3_cr_installgd_en.pdf

If you are still experiencing the INS00140 Error after following the above guides, it be a conflict with third party software that uses the same .dll name for keycode decryption.  Please follow these next steps:

  1. Search the machine for all local instances of “Cryptocme2.dll” (to see what other software may be using it)
  2. Rename the *.dll extension of the identified cryptocme2.dll files, using *.OLD (for example)
  3. Reboot machine
  4. Log on as Admin account
  5. Run the installation again and it should pass the keycode check
  6. Rename cryptocme2.old files back to cryptocme2.dll

For further assistance please review the support options listed next.

Is There a Support/Maintenance Program for Crystal Reports (Desktop Products)?

What Support is there available for Crystal Server?

For all Crystal Server support issues, please contact the SAP Customer Interaction Center at 1-800-677-7271 or service@sap.com. The SAP Service Marketplace portal can be found at https://support.sap.com/home.html.

Please note an S-User ID and password will be required to access support.  S-User IDs are only available with a valid Maintenance and Support Contact.  If this has been lost or you did not purchase maintenance and support initially: please escalate with your vendor as they will need to be involved in order to achieve a proper resolution.

What is Available for a Customer Developing a Custom Application?

What if a Customer has Lost their License Keys?

If the Customer still has their order information:

Please contact your vendor to retrieve the license information.  If purchased from the online store, please engage the chat team at www.sapstore.com or www.crystalreports.com

Retrieving a license key from a local machine:

Firstly, open the program and go to the license manager (under the help menu)

You will see a portion of your license key, write down those first few digits.

Next, start the registry editor by going to the start menu and selecting “Run”

In the new open window, type in “regedit” and click “OK”

Once RegEdit is open:

Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

hit Ctrl+F (find)

Enter the partial license you copied from the license manager and choose “find next”

Search will find the key

Are Crystal Reports backwards compatible?

.RPT files are only forwards compatible and not backwards compatible.  Often a customer has a third party application that comes with pre-built reports and they are only compatible with a specific version, so it is important to confirm what version is needed.  For this reason we continue to sell some older versions so customers can maintain the same version across their deployments as well.

If a customer needs to design reports, they need Crystal Reports. If they want to share/manage/view/automate through a central web application you would be looking for a larger BI Solution from SAP.

Currently we offer:

Crystal Reports 2016 (version 14.2.x)

Crystal Reports 2013 (version 14.1.x)

Crystal Reports 2011 (version 14.0.x)

Crystal Reports for Visual Studio or Eclipse (version 13.x)

Crystal Reports 2008 (version 12.x)

Crystal Reports XI R2 (version 11.5.x)

Crystal Reports versions prior to and including 10.x are no longer available.

What are the Supported Platforms?

SAP Crystal Reports – Supported Platforms

SAP Crystal Reports 2016 Product Availability Matrix (PAM)

SAP Crystal Reports 2013 Product Availability Matrix (PAM)

SAP Crystal Reports 2011 Product Availability Matrix (PAM)

SAP Crystal Reports 2008 SP7 for Windows – Supported Platforms

Is Version “X” still supported?

SAP Crystal Products – End of Mainstream Maintenance Dates: Current Products

Is there a 64-bit Version?

As of Crystal Reports 2016, this software is 32-bit only

Can a Customer buy the New Version and “Downgrade” to an Older Version?

Unfortunately there are no downgrade rights, licenses are version specific.  If the wrong version was purchased, please contact your vendor to see if they will accept a return/replacement order.

Could I get a Trial for “X” Version?

The latest evaluations are available here: http://www.sap.com/solution/sme/software/free-trials.html

For evaluations of other available versions, please contact the chat via www.crystalreports.com

Does the Order Come with Media?

Physical Media is no longer available.  All orders are ESD.

What is the Crystal Reports Viewer?

Unless you have a large Platform Solution from SAP, Crystal Reports Viewer refers to this free download: https://www.crystalreports.com/crystal-viewer/

What Qualifies for an Upgrade?

Any previous full, non-OEM (embedded within another application) licenses qualifies for upgrade pricing.  The only exception would be Crystal Reports Server XI Named User Licenses.  Server XI Named User Licenses were available as part of a free promotion and so are excluded from upgrade pricing.

Where can I Find the End User License Agreements?

Agreements Page

Click-Wrap Agrement for Crystal Solutions

SAP General Terms and Conditions

Can we Amend the End User License Agreement?

NO, License agreements are not negotiable

Until a new comparison document is available which includes Crystal Reports 2016 (version 14.2) (or until the link the blog references is fixed), you can view the comparison between Crystal Reports 2013 (14.1), Crystal Reports 2011 (14.0), Crystal Reports 2008 (12), Crystal Reports for .NET and Java (13) and Crystal Reports Xi R2 (11.5) using this link: http://go.sap.com/documents/2015/11/9c014daf-4d7c-0010-82c7-eda71af511fa.html

I'll make a blog post with this information so that we can at least have it somewhere public facing because the link above is dead.

Getting an INS00140 ERROR for Crystal Reports?

If above steps do not help then it could be a conflict with third party software that uses the same dll name for keycode decryption.

      1. Search the machine for all local instances of "Cryptocme2.dll" (to see what other software may be using it)
      2. Rename the *.dll extension of the identified cryptocme2.dll files, using *.OLD (for example)
      3. Reboot machine
      4. Log on as Admin account
      5. Run the installation again and it should pass the keycode check
      6. Rename cryptocme2.old files back to cryptocme2.dll

Do you know if I can run XIr2 and new version on the same workstation as we have a lot to transition and would need to be able to maintain old and create on new version moving forward?

@Former Member, the answer is both yes and no depending on which versions you plan to run parallel. You can review the public facing SAP Knowledge base article to establish if your planned configuration is valid.

We have Crystal Report server 12 (12.3.0.601) for many years and use Java sdk to open rpt file, set data and export pdf file.  When we upgrade to 2016 (v14.2.4.2410). The same java code does not work. See following code snippet.

      ReportClientDocument rcd = new ReportClientDocument();
      rcd.setReportAppServer("localhost");
      rcd.open("C:\crystal\report.rpt", 0);

      It throw following exception

com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportSDKServerException: The system cannot find the path specified.

      My questions are

      1) Is Crystal Reports Server 2008 jara sdk (12.0.0.683) compatible with v2016 reports server?

      2) Is not, is there developer guide describing how to achieve what I want to do?

I have asked the same question in forum but have not got any answer. Hope to get help here.

      Thanks!

I have got my reports working with Java SDK jars from 2016 installation. Java SDK wasn’t installed earlier. When I ran installer again, it didn’t let me tick “Developer Components” option. This was because the “Central Configuration Manager” was stopped. After starting the manager, I could install Java SDK.

      Developer Guide is here:

      Check the “Development” sub-section

I've installed SAP Crystal Reports on two separate new machines. Two separate licenses. Clean install with no errors during install. When launching from the start menu, nothing happens. If you go to file location and launch from there, with or without running as administrator, we get the error stating "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. User access control is turned off on both computers. Users are local admins on the PC. I can't seem to get any support from any source on this. I have googled the issue and have tried every possible solution found to no avail. I have uninstalled, rebooted, and then reinstalled twice on one of the machines. Same issue no matter what I do. I need help with this.

      Good Afternoon,

We are a reseller for Crystal Reports.  We have attempted to install Crystal Report on a customer’s computer.

I finished the installation, and entered the product key that was purchased from CDW.  However, when we launch the software, we get this message:

After clicking yes, the following window opens:

If we add the product key, the software won’t open at all and we're forced to clean the Key out of the Win Registry. If we click cancel, the software closes.

This is happening on another PC for a different customer using the same CR license key.  We have not run into this issue before until these two instances.

Computer is Win10 Pro with User Access Controls set to Default settings.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

My customer placed an order for the below but the Windows 7 computer they originally had this installed on went down.  He tried to install it on his new Windows 10 computer but he received an error message that he needed a new key.  How can he download this license on his new computer?
