Viewing an info area in the Project Explorer tree / Finding an info area in BW Modeling Tools

Step (1) Select “Ctrl + H” or select the “Search” icon as shown in the tool bar (below picture) to invoke the “Search” dialog

Step (2) Select the first tab “BW Object Search” (if this is not selected by default)

Step (3) In the “Search String”, enter the name of the info area that you want to see

Step (4) Select “AREA[InfoArea]” from the object type as seen below

(If needed we can set the “Created” / “Last change” to further refine the search)

Step (5) Hit the “Search” button in the “Search” dialog

Step (6) In the “Search” view”, the list of info areas which has our search string “AK_TEST” will be displayed

Step (7) We can directly open this info area by double clicking on it – and the info area opens in the Editor (in the info area editor, the “Technical Name” and “Description” are seen)

Step (8) Further, from the project explorer view, we can select “Link with Editor” and have the info area seen in the BW project explorer tree (as seen below)

      Hello Aneesh,

      Thanks for sharing this information.

I'm wondering if you know the following question:

      - When are are going to create an Infocube or DSO, the BW Modelling tool require that we input an InfoArea, however, there's no place in HANA Studio that allows us to create an InfoArea (e.g. if you go to NEW -> Project, DSO, Cube, etc.. , it does not show any option for infoarea), the only option we have is to open RSA1, create an InfoArea and then go back to HANA Studio to finish the object creation.

Would you have any information regarding InfoAreas creation in HANA Studio (BW Modelling)?

      Thanks in advance.

      -Daniel

You can only use the IA created in BW in HANA. You cannot directly create an IA in HANA.

Do you know how restrict access to infoarea on bw modeling tools? I mean that user should see info areas that he has access to. Is that possible?
