Solution Manager Update – Three reasons for going to Solman 7.2

Solution Manger 7.2

The SAP Solution Manager 7.2 ramp-up will be starting soon with a target of General Availability (GA) mid 2016. This release continues to reinforce SAP’s commitment to providing best practices and functionality to better manage your Business Processes and Systems.

So what are the three reasons for going to Solman 7.2?

Reason 1 – Business Process Management

SAP has completely revamped the Business Process Management functionality. This is the biggie, SAP has finally introduced a proper graphical business process modelling tool based on the BPMN 2.0 standard. This will significantly improve the communication between the Business and IT by providing an intuitive visualization of the processes.

Reason 2 – Release & Deployment Management

With the new Business Requirements and Release Planning Functionality integrated with ITPPM (Project Management) SAP has now fully adopted the ITIL standard for release management. This enables you to smoothly manage major and minor releases from identification of Business Requirements through to release planning and deployment.

This was supposed to be out Mid 2015, now delayed to Mid 2016. So, in real life probably will be released about this time next year, or possibly Mid 2017.
