This was an SAP webcast given yesterday.  Below is the question and answer as I heard it:

Q: on Convergence, does it mean the other products will not be supported in near future. example Dashboards or AA OLAP which converge to DS/DS Apps

A: It means that going forward their will be less enhancements to these tools. If you are happy with the tool as it is then you can continue  using those tools.

Q: Thanks. Does it mean the functionality that is available in the products that will not be enhanced be incorporated into the future toolset?

A: The convergence slide just talked about SAP’s recommended roadmap and strategy to simplify the new tools that are coming in market

Q: SSO AD for Windows client

A: yes – see https://scn.sap.com/thread/3353137

Q: Can the DS apps be viewed from Blackberry smartphones

A: With Mobile BI only iOS and Android

Q: Is it possible to have one single data source and project the values across two different components nad have the measures aggregate based on the Dimensions used in the components like WebI? Is that available now or in 1.6 ?

A: Sorry I dont think so thats possible now or in 1.6

Q: I was trying use the SDK to get CSV data source option enabled, however I didnt see the columns and rows appear in DS, is there any walkthrough or video that I can reference, been struggling with it

A: DS 1.6 will support CSV files as Data source

Q: Is there an Update install for BIP Add-On or we just install the latest version on top of the existing one? Example – If we are already on DS 1.4 SP2, do we install the 1.5 BIP Add-on on the server or we uninstall 1.4 and then reinstall 1.5 add-on?

A: Recommend update

Q: In a distributed and clustered environments where you have app servers in 2 or more server boxes and 1 or more web servers with tomcat, do you need to install the Design Studio Add-on only in the app servers? Or in web servers as well? and which options to use?

A: Would suggest checking the Installation guide  http://help.sap.com/boad?current=boad#section2

Q: What is the difference between Lumira and Design Studio – high level

A: Lumira is a data discovery solution and business users can directly start using the tool if they have access to data sources. Whereas the DS is used to build professionally authored apps , usually created by a technical analyst and business users consume those apps

Q: Is there a way to get a list of all invalid bookmarks because the application has for example a new version ?

A: If you mean in CMC – manage bookmarks? I dont think so we have such an option.

A: bookmarking was covered by Sushma – recording and pdf available on events page for DS: http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-63938

Q: Suggestions on how to find what the correct “Web Service URL” would be when trying to use Design Studio connected to the platform?

A: http://10.00.00.50:8080/dswsbobje/services/Session

Q: In a distributed and clustered environments where you have app servers in 2 or more server boxes and 1 or more web servers with tomcat, do you need to install the Design Studio Add-on only in the app servers? Or in web servers as well? and which options to use?
