SAP HANA Vora—currently in ramp up—extends the Apache Spark framework. And we’re thrilled to share that as of version 1.29, Lumira can leverage HANA Vora.
As a desktop tool, Lumira brings big data to the desktop so business users can easy access and visualize Big Data without the need to know how to write MapReduce—or even SQL.
Through our GUI anyone can point and click their way to visualizing Big Data. And our prepare room makes it easy to blend Big Data with corporate data sources. So you can do things like bring data of unknown value (for example, public record sets) together with more traditional information to glean business insights like never before.
Of course business users have come to expect their applications to be performant. HANA Vora can help with just that, by supporting compiled queries you’ll see response times much faster than using using Spark alone.
And don’t let the name fool you—though HANA Vora with the SAP HANA platform brings a lot of added value—Lumira can leverage HANA Vora directly against Hadoop.
And it’s not just HANA Vora…with version 1.29 Lumira also extends our out-of-the-box Big Data connectivity to stand-alone Spark and Redshift (Hive, Impala, and EMR continue to be available). And through our data access SDK you can easily extend Lumira to support additional JDBC data sources. Or check our partner extensions page to see what else is available!
