A transaction has been posted by TBB1 and the posting log is as below:

The posting is reversed by TPM10 and here is the reversal log:

The two results look the same, is the reversal log wrong ? It displays the same as the posting log of TBB1.

The display of such reversal transactions can be confusing.

The background is the following. TPM10 reverses the business position created by TBB1 via the position management. TBB1/TPM10 does the analog. The reversal of the business position created by TBB1 is carried out in TRAC and from FI we get only back - in real run - the number of the reversal posting document, but not the reversal document itself.

Thus in the log of TPM10 contains only the lines of the document which is reversed and not the lines of the reversal document. This can be confusing but this is all the information we have from FI.

On the other hand, the log as it is, is motivated by the two facts:

+ TPM10 should show the posting document which is reversed and not the reversal document, as TPM10 is no reporting transaction.

+ The posting and reversal can be seen with TPM20 which is the proper reporting transaction to use; with TPM20 the customer can display the posting document, too.

Thus TPM10 shows the documents which were reversed, but for reporting TPM20 should be used.

Summarization: What you see in the log of TPM10 (TPM2, TPM45 etc.) is the ORIGINAL posting, not the reversal posting. The reversal posting is not created in the transaction manager. We just send the information to FI that the document with the number XXXXXXXXXX in company code XXXX and fiscal year XXX has to be reversed. The system works as designed. This is not error in the software.
