SAP Fiori Overview Page – What’s Available with the First Release?
Introduction
SAP Fiori overview page enables business users perform their daily tasks quickly and effectively by having all the information they need on a single page. Information is visualized on cards for multiple types of content in an attractive and efficient way. The user-friendly experience makes viewing data, filtering data and acting upon it simple, faster, and smarter. It’s fully responsive and features collapsible “columns” of cards that can scale all the way from large screens and desktop down to tablet or phone screen sizes.
SAP Fiori overview page (OVP) was successfully introduced to the market during TechEd events that took place lately in Las-Vegas and Barcelona. Now that SAPUI5 1.32, which contains SAP Fiori OVP first release, is available both to on-premise systems and on HANA Cloud Platform (HCP) it is time to provide more details on the release content.
Release Content
Global Filter
The global filter can be expended/collapsed from the OVP header section by clicking on the global filter icon. By default, when the OVP launches the global filter is collapsed.

When a global filter is selected/applied all the cards within the OVP are filtered according to the defined filter.
A user can define filters for his/her own use or can share filters with other users or use filters shared by other users.

Contextual Navigation
Contextual navigation means that when a navigation operation is triggered from a card, the navigation is performed in the context of the items that was clicked on. For example, when clicking a specific line item on the list card, the launched app will open and display the specific item details.
Tools for Generating SAP Fiori overview page
The easiest way to generate an OVP is to use the SAP Web IDE OVP plugin. This plugin lets the developer to generate an OVP, add cards to the OVP, deploy it to ABAP repository/HCP and register it to the FLP as well as enjoy all the benefits of using the SAP Web IDE.
At the time of publishing this blog, the OVP plugin is available on the HCP trial (developer) landscape. I expect it to be available in the productive landscape shortly.

Hi Raz, thanks for sharing the information.
Is the only requirement to use OVP is SAPUI5 1.32 ?
The statement that it's available both to on-premise and HCP mean we could use this all OVP features on non-HANA system as well ?
Regards
Siva
Hi Siva,
The requirement to use OVP is
The OVP can connect to non-HANA systems.
The backend should have OData v2 and annotations assigned.

Hi Raz,
Thanks again, I really like OVP features trying to understand bit more with actual requirements without HANA.
We currently have on-premise embedded gateway solution on CRM (7.0 EHP2) system with UI addons at 1.24.6 release. As per the requirement, if I only upgrade UI Add-ons to 2.0 SP1 can I use OVP features
OR
Move to HUB gateway solution (i.e. ABAP Frontend server) where AFS can be at NW 7.50 SP1 and UI Add-on 2.0 SP1 without upgrading CRM system ?
Regards
Siva
Hi Siva,
Both options are valid.
What's important is to have SAPUI5 1.32 on the frontend server.
Regards,
-- Raz
Hi Raz, thanks for your timely response.
1) If I enable FLP on portal and have the relevant SAPUI5 1.32 and OData version release on the Gateway ABAP system, we should be able to view this OVP based cards on the FLP, without any special requirement on the FLP (whether we run on Portal or AFS) ?
2) In portal I assume I would be creating a tile based on iview type SAP Fiori iView, is that correct ?
Regards
Siva
Hi Siva,
Do you refer to HANA CLoud Portal on HANA CLoud Platform or to On premise NW Enterprise Portal?
Inbal
Hi Inbal, I'm referring to On Premise NW EP at 7.31 SP17 or we are also planning to take it to 7.5 release if required.
Thanks
Siva
Hi Siva,
Following additional inputs received on this issue (minimum requirements for OVP implementation), I'd like to inform you that we're re-evaluating the answer previously provided.
I'll provide an update as soon as I have it.

Hi Raz, are you able to confirm if we can develop (on-premise using SAPUI5 1.32) and deliver OVP on FLP running on SAP EP 7.31 SP17 or 7.5 SP1 releases ?
Regards
Siva
Hi Siva,
The product which versions you provide are of the EP. What I need from you is the type of frontend server that is used and its version.

Hi Raz,
Just to recap my previously posted questions in this same blog
We don't use AFS, we currently have on-premise embedded gateway solution on CRM (7.0 EHP2) system with UI addons at 1.24.6 release. I understand OVP requirement is SAP UI to be at 1.32 release hence we are happy to upgrade SAP UI addons to the latest 1.32 release.
Then can we build OVP apps using on-premise Eclipse IDE with SAP UI libraries 1.32 and deploy to on-premise embedded gateway/UI5 CRM ABAP system ?
For the Fiori Launchpad we are planning to leverage our existing SAP Enterprise Portal at 7.31 SP6 but we are in the path to upgrade to latest release (7.31 SP17 or 7.5).
My question is with above mentioned setup can we deliver OVP apps on the FLP (SAP EP) ?
Regards
Siva
Nice intro to the OVP, but I'm confused as to the requirements.
We have a gateway hub model and the GW server is on SAP_UI 7.50 so has sapui5 1.32.
Our backend ERP server however, is ABAP 7.40 with an older SAP_UI version.
Will the Fiori Overview page work in this scenario? Or are there more requirements on the backend ERP server?
