In a recent press release, SAP highlighted how SuccessFactors Rapid Deployment Solutions (RDS) help our customers to “simplify and accelerate functions related to human capital (HCM) cloud solutions”. Since then we’ve gotten a lot of requests and questions as to what exactly these solutions are and how they work. So we thought we’d take this opportunity to put together the most frequently asked questions (with answers, of course!) we get from SAP customers and partners.

We, marisesfeir and friederike.buettner?view=profile, are both product owners in the Packaged Solutions & Services Team at SAP and responsible for the Cloud Core HR and Payroll Rapid Deployment Solutions. Friederike focuses on the SAP Payroll Processing control center RDS while Marise takes care of the overall Employee Central and HR Core RDS Cluster. As product owners, we are responsible for the end-to-end delivery of our solutions, which includes activities like the planning and preparation for next releases, enablement for customers, partners and internals and the generation of market feedback.

What we both love about our job is that we continuously engage with many stakeholders throughout the entire SAP Ecosystem – be it customers, partners or SAP product management, development, and field services. Over the past few months, we’ve seen an increase in interest from our customers, partners, and SAP colleagues who are all very eager to learn more about these Rapid Deployment Solutions. We often receive questions like “Where can I find this RDS content?” or “Do you have a demo of the solution?” So we’ve collected the top 10 most frequently asked questions about the Cloud Core HR and Payroll RDS and listed their answers below:

1. What are Rapid Deployment Solutions?

Rapid Deployment Solutions provide Best Practices for implementing SAP software and supporting consulting services. The Best Practices content consists mostly of proven and tested configuration, test scripts, presentations, offline demo recordings, and other guides. We also deliver tools and methods to support the best practices.

2. Where can I access the Best Practices content of the RDS?

In general, all the Best Practices content is accessible on SAP Service Marketplace: http://service.sap.com/public/rds. Note that you will need a Service Marketplace ID / “S-User” to access the content (learn more about how you will get your Service Marketplace ID here).

Please find an overview of our Cloud Core HR and Payroll RDS  here. Direct Links to the Cloud Core HR and Payroll RDS (excluding data migration and integration packages):

In order to download a specific RDS, please click on “Download Package”, then select “Installation” and then click on the file number. This will trigger the download of a zip-file.

Click on the “Start” HTML file to access the Content Library:

The Content Library provides links to the documents delivered with the RDS.

3. What is the difference between the Best Practices content and the service assets included in an RDS? Do I have access to the service assets as a partner?

In general, Rapid Deployment Solutions consists of both the Best Practices content and documents that are delivered as part of the supporting consulting service, i.e. scope questionnaires and project schedules. Partners have access to most of these service assets in addition to the best practices content of the RDS. Most of the service assets are made available when downloading the package from SAP Service Marketplace, i.e. in the Content Library.

The service documents of the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central rapid-deployment solution (scoping document, scoping questionnaire and project schedule) can be found in the zip-file downloadable from Service Marketplace (select “Download Package”).

In the case of the SAP Payroll Processing control center rapid-deployment solution, partners are able to access a More Information Section on SAP Service Marketplace: Go to http://service.sap.com/public/rds-pcc and click on “More Information” in the navigation menu on the left hand side. Download the file “Payroll Control Center RDS Service Enabl. SBS Guide” and click on the file “start.htm” to access the service assets.

Please note that there is no consulting service for the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll for the United States rapid-deployment solution available yet.

4. Are Rapid Deployment Solutions really for free?

Yes, the best practices content of Rapid Deployment Solutions are free - we provide it as an added value for our licensed customers to drive down implementation costs, accelerate deployment, and add benefit to their investment in SAP. All you need is a Service Marketplace ID / S-User to access the content on SAP Service Marketplace. Partners also have free access to most of the service documents of the RDS, such as scope questionnaires and project schedules (see question 3). The implementation service of the RDS offered by SAP Service and Support, however, comes with a fee.

5. Where can I learn more about a specific RDS?
