Re-inventing India – Utilizing technology to leapfrog development

India is the second most populous country in the world and also one of the largest economies. Its also a successful democracy which despite its own pitfalls. Its also a country where over 50% of the population is less then 25 years of age. One thing unique about India is that its youth have exponential ambitions. This means that even the first generation literate youths have ambitions which have no correlation with the ambitions of their parents.

The government believes that a combination of Banking-Unique Identity and Mobile can help India leapfrog on its development goals. For the next 6 weeks I plan to write a series of blogs on how Technology can help the worlds largest democracy to achieve the development aspirations of its people. The First of the blogs will be on how the objectives for adoption of Information technology and specially big data differ between Private Sector and Public services. The second blog will be on the use of ICT and specially the cloud to improve health care delivery to people. In the subsequent weeks, I will cover topics like delivery of public services, optimizing the delivery and administration of utilities, public safety. In the last week we will summarize the series of blogs with the key take away.

So keep watching this space till next week when I deliver the first instalments of the blog series.
