SAP Labs China Nanjing Innovation Center signs a research agreement with Transportation Planning and Management of Chang Jiang Scholars Center of Beijing Jiaotong University on September 1st at the 11th China International Software Products& Information Service Trade Fair (CISExpo).

The two parties aim to find a new way out for the growing urban traffic problems and will cooperate on the research of smart traffic with six main topics:

Computational model of traffic evaluation index and its method optimization,

Anomaly identification of road network and its cause analysis,

Analysis and prediction of the time-space range of congestion spreading and dissipation,

Real-time evaluation of public transportation operating efficiency and studies on technical methods of operating management,

Residents trip rule analysis based on multiple data sources and studies on technical methods of dynamic traffic demand management,

Dynamic prediction of urban vehicle exhaust emission and rule analysis.

Ruicheng Li, SVP, Managing Director of SAP Labs China, said, “It’s a great honor to cooperate with Chang Jiang Scholars Center of Beijing Jiaotong University. They established the first traffic environment research lab and had rich scientific research experience and a solid academic foundation in the field of urban traffic study. On our side, SAP Labs China Nanjing Innovation Center has developed Smart Traffic Solution powered by SAP HANA in-memory computing platform and IoT technology. And we have technology advantages in big data, IoT and cloud computing, and can provide reliable data analysis and technical support to their research project. Our mutual beneficial cooperation will help further improve SAP’s Smart Traffic Solution from different theoretical and technical angles.”

Professor Song Guohua of the Chang Jiang Scholars Center said, “SAP has accumulated a lot of wisdom in the field of smart city and smart transportation, and it has many cutting-edge innovation in big data and cloud computing and mobile application. We can leverage both parties’ advantages, and through huge urban transportation data analysis and in close cooperation, we can further discover and predict urban transportation abnormity and dig deep into the causes, on the basis of which to provide decision support to municipal administrations in traffic control, urban planning, and public transportation operation.”

It’s the fourth year that SAP Labs China Nanjing Innovation Center attends CISExpo. Besides SAP Smart Traffic, they also brought other forefront solutions of SAP to visitors and guests on the fair, including SAP Connected Manufacturing and Predictive Maintenance and Service, SAP Smart Warehousing, and SAP Smart Glasses.

Since its establishment in 2012, SAP Labs China Nanjing Innovation Center continuous to strengthen co-innovation with governments and enterprises, leveraging SAP’s technology and industry experiences to advance urban and corporate informatization. Its featured SAP Smart Traffic solution is helping more and more cities to drive local smart transportation construction. In 2013, Nanjing Innovation Center developed a big data comprehensive analysis and decision support platform for taxi operation management with Research Institute of Highway Ministry of Transport. In 2014, it co-innovated with Nanjing government the Smart Traffic solution.
