Readers of my occasional ramblings on Facebook and the interwebs will know that I have growing collection of vinyl records. It is a motley collection, some mainstream, some obscure. As with many such collections, it includes a couple of Bob Dylan records. His new album is actually rather good, he does a bunch of songs that Frank Sinatra made famous.
Dylan is famous for many things, and has had a massive influence on popular and protest music since he burst onto the scene in the early 1960’s. Dylan was a successful folk musician, but he was not afraid to experient, even at the risk of upsetting some of his fans. His album, Bringing it all back home, was notable for his swtich to electric guitar, and also for his innovative use of a film on the single Subterranean Homesick Blues, (This is from Dylan’s officical youtube site)
You may rightly ask what this has to do with Employee Central. There are a couple of metaphors I could explore in terms of how Dylan’s innovation relates to software innovation, but I’ll leave those blowin’ in the wind. The shift to cloud is going at pace, so Times they are a changin’. Let me stop there, before the lyric abuse police arrest me.
