On October 16, as part of our quarterly innovations, we have launched Feature Pack 4 of SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service, cloud edition.

There are various innovations that I would like to highlight in this blog:

1. Vibration Analysis for equipments with fast rotating components

This new capability is especially important to predict failures of equipments with fast rotating components.

Vibration experts generate fingerprints representing a healthy vibration signature. On a regular basis further vibration analysis will be conducted and compared against the fingerprints. If there are deviations of concern, alerts will be generated and corrective actions triggered in Service Management or Plant Maintenance.

Vibration Analysis is an advanced analytical method to reduce unplanned downtimes.

You will learn more details about Vibration Analysis by reading this blog:

2. Full integration with CRM or Plant Maintenance

With this feature pack, SAP has improved the ease of integration with SAP ERP, CRM, C4C or other systems.

With the deployment of the HANA Cloud Integration platform, SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service provides a built-in integration to create notifications or orders that will initiate the maintenance or service business process. This enables better planning and selection of the correct spare part for a customer visit.

3. Enablement to build Solution Extensions for SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service

Customers and Partners of SAP can build their own extensions to complement SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service with specialized analytics or visualizations. Machine data in SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service will be accessed via a sophisticated API framework to allow e.g. asset OEMs to build targeted customer portals or to add visualizations of industry specific content for the equipment.

With the option to easily extend the standard capabilities of SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service (SaaS), partners can now team up with SAP to build required extensions to solve specific industry problems leveraging the HANA Cloud Platform (PaaS).

The next Feature Pack of SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service is currently scheduled for the end of 2015. Please stay tuned.

You will find details on Feature Pack 3 (from July 2015) in this blog:
