We’re getting the band back together … at SAP TechEd 2015 Barcelona

We know code jam, demo jam, inno jam … and some of us can’t wait to jam in the SAP Mentors band during SAP TechEd. Kudos to David Hull, Mark Finnern and all the assisting SAP Mentors starting this very special annual event 4 years ago! Kudos to our band sponsor SAP Business Innovation & IT!

How you can take part?

If you are going to be at SAP TechEd Barcelona and want to join the band please fill out this google form (no registration needed)

Calling all Musicians coming to Barcelona

or send me an email or tweet. The easiest way to take part is simply show up during the SAP Mentors Networking Reception!

We have two rehearsals at 5pm and at 10pm on Monday. At least one rehearsal is mandatory for everybody who want to play an instrument. The rehearsals and the band action are located at the Convention Center right in front of the keynotes area.

The live performance will be prior to the Demo Jam starting from 6:30pm on Tuesday.

We will stop in time, so everyone has enough time to wander over to the Demo Jam right after.

How to get an instrument?

We are providing instruments, microphones, amps, pedals, … you just need to show up and play. If you know the tune and want to join in singing or playing some percussion, come on up. If you like to dance, then dance dance dance!

What will we play?

This is the final set list of songs for the Barcelona event:

The Band Jam was one of my favorite parts, even if I never could quite grab one of the band shirts, there is always next year.  I'll practice my drumming and join in one year maybe!

Hi BAND-Geeks! I write to you as you will have an “active role” in the Jam Band Gig!

Wow – let me tell you that we are very close to our fist “InnoBeats” Gig!

      /wp-content/uploads/2015/11/time_825907.png

As Matthias is on its way to xyz (good luck with Lufthansa! 🙂 ), I’d take the liberty to go quickly through the plan for the Band:

      Dates/Times and Flow

      • Band Rehearsals: Monday 5 pm and Monday 10 pm (before and after Mentor Reception) MANDATORY for Musicians
      • Meet before Gig: Tuesday 6:30 pm
      • Gig: Tuesday 7-8 pm

      Flow:

      • Start at 7pm with 1 or 2 Songs (we can discuss details during rehearsal)
      • Break
        • Introduction and welcome by Malin Liden, our VP Innovation & Community / SAP Experience and boss of the SAP Mentor Program on SAP side.
        • hand over to Christian Hastedt-Marckwardt from CIO Engagement & Innovation Incubation, (working for Carsten Linz) who is sponsoring the JAM Band “InnoBeats” in Barcelona.
      • Back to the Band
      • Break to do the raffle for the Mentor-5-star-challenge
      • Hard stop at 8
      • --> DemoJam

      Location for Rehearsals and Gig:

HALL 6, Keynote-overflow room, stage (you can’t miss it)

      Layout and Instruments:

      • this time we will have a real Stage. This is on one hand GREAT, on the other hand there is a “gap” between Band and audience – it might be harder to interact with them, and might be difficult to keep the JAM style.
      • We will have Uwe Seemann to bring the instruments, he was the instruments vendor in Berlin last year and I think we are very safe with his great experience!

      Musicians:

…  // Please add your twitter handle where missing

      • Jürgen Butsmann, SAP
      • Jose Ramo, SAP
      • Chris Whealy, SAP
      • Hans Verreydt @Verreydths
      • Jan Penninkhof @jpenninkhof
      • Gregor Wolf @wolf_gregor
      • Peter Langner @peter_langner
      • Tobias Hauk, SAP
      • Marilyn Pratt @marilynpratt
      • Matthias Wild, SAP @Matthias Wild
      • Kati Fischer, SAP @katarinafischer

For active Band Support I take the liberty to count on (at least) on the guys and gals below.
Your role would be to “heat up” the crowd, distribute InnoBeats t-shirts into audience, animate them to dance. We do need more!

      • Rahel Herczeg, SAP  @Rahel_Herczeg
      • Julia Dorbic @JDorbic
      • Rahel Cunha @raquelsolman
      • Denise Nepraunig, SAP @denisenepraunig
      • Jason Cao, SAP @jaychaos
      • Jitendra @jkkansal1987

      Songs:

      Don't Stop Believing - Journey

Summer of 69 - Bryan Adams

      Wonderwall - Oasis

Walking on Sunshine - Katrina & the Waves

Learn to Fly - Foo Fighters

      Little Numbers - Boy

      Proud Mary - Tina Turner

      I love Rock'n Roll - Joan Jett

Twist and Shout - The Beatles

      Next Steps.

      • Please make yourself familiar with the songs (and text).
      • @Peter: didn’t you want to send around the song sheets? Please keep in mind we won’t have a printer there – so it would be good if you bring your print outs or the sheets on your device.
      • Rehearsals are MANDATORY for the musicians, please let me know if you can’t make it!
      • Having fun is also MANDATORY!

Thanks a lot to Matthias Wild who was setting this up with patience! Thanks to Carsten Linz team (Rahel especially!)!

And all people that helped so far!

      See you soon!

Great post, Kati! Sounds great - and a real stage? Wow, sound's awesome! Let's hope we also get some monitors on stage... 😉

Let's keep our "Lufthansa-fingers" crossed, so everybody will arrive there...I might look into finding another flight today 😯

      Hi Kati

This looks like its going to be a lot of fun!

We drummers (myself, Jürgen Butsmann and Tobias Hauk) have divided up the songs amongst ourselves, so we'll be swapping in and out between songs.

So now you know why my Twitter handle is @LogaRhythm  😎

See you all next week (and fortunately, I'm flying on British Airways, not Lufthansa)
