To keep the pace of innovation I’m happy to announce the availability of a new and enhanced version of SAP HANA Customer Activity Repository rapid-deployment solution based on feature pack 1 of the corresponding solution.

Perhaps you remember my older blogs about this rapid-deployment solution (RDS). If not, let me give you here a short summary of the solution itself:

SAP Customer Activity Repository is a new omni-channel data foundation consolidating all relevant customer sales transactions and inventory data, that were previously spread over multiple siloed applications. It helps retailers gain real time visibility and analytics through revolutionary in-memory technology and gives a base for the digital transformation in retail companies.

The RDS covers the following areas:

POS Data Transfer & Audit (POS DTA)

POS Data Transfer & Audit as part of SAP Customer Activity Repository is an encapsulated POS inbound processing application running on SAP HANA for data capturing, sales auditing and distribution of POS Data.

SAP Smart Business for Multichannel Sales Analytics

The SAP HANA Customer Activity Repository rapid-deployment solution enables you to quickly leverage the SAP Smart Business Multichannel Sales Cockpit providing category managers with real-time insight into sales activities across multiple sales channels.

SAP Lumira for Inventory Visibility and Sales Reports (optional)

SAP HANA Customer Activity Repository rapid-deployment solution supports real time visibility into current store-level inventory to improve stock performance and real-time insight into POS sales performance with pre-built analytics leveraging SAP Lumira.

Demand Data Foundation (optional)

SAP HANA Customer Activity Repository rapid-deployment solution helps you set up the demand data foundation to enable analytics, planning and forecasting processes in SAP retail consuming applications, such as SAP Assortment Planning for Retail and SAP Promotion Management for Retail

I would like to focus here on two major changes that you can find in the latest version:

Formerly the configuration of the POS Data Transfer and Audit was covered by a separate engineered service. Now this configuration is completely included in the RDS, so you don’t need the additional service anymore. With the automated content the following steps are supported:

Activation of POS data transfer and auditing with data validation

    • Preconfigured best practices configuration of POS data transfer and auditing

Data provisioning for in-memory POS sales analytics

    • Preconfigured data flow to enrich the data required to support the virtual data models provided with SAP Customer Activity Repository

Enabling the customer to define and implement the interface to POS data transfer and auditing

    • Enhanced interface definition and mapping sheets, including initial knowledge transfer workshops

Outbound data flow to SAP Merchandising (aka SAP ERP Retail)

    • Preconfigured data flows to SAP Merchandising using standard retail IDocs for aggregated sales, aggregated tenders, goods movements and financial movements

Outbound data flow to SAP Business Warehouse

    • Preconfigured data flow to SAP Business Warehouse Content complementary to existing investments in POS Analytics content and the optionally available Enterprise Data Warehouse Service for POS Data

The second change is related to the scope item SAP Lumira for Inventory Visibility and Sales Reports. Here the RDS delivers in addition to the already existing 13 reports, 5 reports for the regional manager overview board and 2 new reports for rolling gross margin.

The regional manager overview board is designed for a regional manager who needs to monitor the net sales for his region. He can check the sales performance of his stores as well as the sales and margin of merchandise categories in his area of responsibility. He also can check how the store business is running compared against the other channels.

The new reports for rolling gross margin enables the regional manager to check the correlation of the net sales and profit margin for the last 7 days.

Regional Manager Overview Board: Net sales by region
