SAPlify Singapore Grand Prix Experience!
Being an SAP employee, I always hear about the sponsorships that SAP has – be it in Tennis, Sailing, Soccer, Formula1 – and I was hoping one of these days I could be part of the team, representing SAP to attend one of these events, and BOOM, my dream came true!!
I ATTENDED F1 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX!
HOSTED IN THE MCLAREN-HONDA SUITE,
A WALK DOWN THE PITLANE,
A VISIT TO MCLAREN GARAGE,
LEARNED HOW SAP TECHNOLOGY HELPED AND…
SAW ALONSO IN PERSON!

Formula 1 is such a prestigious event and it only take place in selected countries that has specially constructed circuit for racing, and Singapore is one of them! But do you know… Singapore was the inaugural F1 night race and….
one of the few tracks that is anti-clockwise?! (besides Brazil, Texas (US), Abu Dhabi & Korea for 2015)
Being a Presales, it’s always good to be updated with the latest and greatest technology and how SAP is playing a role to help our customers achieve their goals. Before entering the McLaren garage, the high-level understanding of how SAP helped McLaren is through SAP HANA, with predictive analytics, a pretty fuzzy understanding of how data is being retrieved and analyzed, and how the process of analysis is being done to help McLaren run better. But with the tour around the garage accompanied by the engineer’s explanation of situation during the race shed the light and all of us were amazed by how SAP has helped and the difference SAP created.
Ok, enough said! Let me share some photos and my great experience there!

And here’s the exciting part that all the Early Talents were enthusiatic about – a walk down the pitlane, and a visit to McLaren’s garage!!!
The pit lane walk!
The very exciting tour around the garage, and witnessed for myself how they fixed the car!
After the visit to the garage, I was deeply impressed by how SAP has helped McLaren in all their races thus far. The time it takes to send huge amount data back and forth (to/fro headquarter in UK). Each turn, each pitstop, the time taken, the angle and speed in which the driver takes, is important and a determining factor for winning the race and I am impressed with how SAP helped using predictive analytics to provide the greatest assistance possible!
I am really lucky to have the chance to be part of this event as an SAP Early Talent, and I’m honored and thankful to be the social and brand ambassador (together with 6 other Early Talents) throughout the event on Friday night. It was indeed a great start to my weekend!
A picture to end this post – a view of the happenings in the suite!
