SAP HANA Runs Faster than A F1 Car
7011872 – SAP HANA Enterprise Ed …. my knowledge for SAP products lie just within the material bags descriptions or sales bag code. So when the opportunity to visit Mclaren Honda’s garage and learn how SAP technology plays apart in Formula One sports, I know I am IN for it.
My evening spent together with this group of energetic millennials in SAP was nothing short of amazing.
Great experience with this bunch of Millenials from different departments ( Sales/ HR/ Finance/ IT/Research..)
with Renata! Thank you for this opportunity!
Because of SAP partnership with Mclaren Technology group, we had the chance to be VIP at Singapore Formula One 2015, hosted by Mclaren Honda and also a chance to be SAP Social and Brand Ambassador for a day, taking pictures and giving live updates on our social media sites from Paddock Club. It is hard to describe my wonderful evening without the pictures…
Team Mclaren – Jenson Button (22), staying compact in the car, after the first round of practice
At Mclaren Honda Hospitality Suite – special appeareance by Fernando Alonso, sharing
his experience of the Singapore night race. Nope, they are not reporters nor
parrazzi, everyone just had their Alonso Fan-Mode on.

Went for Pit Lane walk and garage tour. Awesome to see the cars put together by a group
of engineers and understand how SAP HANA transmits real time race data at terabytes speed
to a headquarter in UK for analysis and simulation that could change the race game
An engineer fixing Alonso’s car before his 2nd round of practice
Stay Curious – Have you wondered what these booths are when you watched F1 race on tv?
Predictive Analysis powered by SAP HANA occurs here! On each Formula One car, there are sensors attached,
transmitting real time data to a team of onsite data analysts (seen in picutre) and to headquarters in UK.
Real-time Data from tire pressure, fuel effiency to corner speed, combined with historical data, helps
Mclaren Team better strategize and predict their winnings before the race end.

My first time meeting some of them, from different work functions in SAP but same goal for the evening: TO HAVE FUN, and WE HAD!
That evening zoomed past like a F1 car. I cannot get enough of it. Can we have a 3 day pass next time? Just kidding.
Well, aside from the SAP technology, what captivaties me that evening is the effective communication and team spirit among the engineers, data analysts and the others working hard behind the scenes, that lead to the success of each race and fame of each Formula One driver. 3 Cheers for Team Mclaren and SAP!
I'm a big enthusiast of everything around F1 and currently i'm using HANA to develop analytics models on my company, so found this article was very exciting... but it seems to be from some time ago, there are others teams using this technology? Where i can found more recent experiences about HANA on F1?
