Using ESP or SDS with SAP Plant Connectivity (PCo)

Event stream processing provides value-added real-time monitoring capabilities for SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (MII).  The streaming analytics of ESP or HANA SDS can be applied to live streams of machine data coming from SAP Plant Connectivity (better known as PCo) – which is part of the MII product suite.  This allows you to perform real-time situation detection, applying algorithms to watch for things like trends, patterns, correlations, etc.

This post by Sam Castro goes into more detail.

Sometimes people hear that ESP supports PCo, but they are confused when they go to implement an ESP project but can’t find the ESP adapter for PCo.  The reason for that is that no adapter is needed:  PCo provides native connectivity to ESP and SDS.  You just need to configure ESP as a destination in PCo. PCo uses the ESP/SDS API to connect directly to an ESP project,  where you apply the streaming analytics to the live steams of machine data.
