What are you passionate about at SAP?
Working with so many passionate people and seeing the change that SAP and the Silicon Valley offices are going through makes it hard not to get the bug. Recently, that passion has circled around project BUILD. Project BUILD is an online collaborative design tool–it takes feedback tools and introduces new prototyping capabilities I’ve never seen in another tool. I’m also really passionate about some of our recent announcements and open source projects. Who couldn’t be stoked about the HANA open platform work that was recently announced by Quentin? This is going to change this company, the way we think, and work in an awesome way. What’s your favorite thing about working at SAP?
The access to unlimited potential. In my experience at SAP, how we approach problems and the impact that work has is like nothing else I have seen. When we apply the design-thinking approach we have transformed potential into unlimited opportunities. This is the first company I have worked where customers ask to tour our offices just to see how we work–amazing! What’s something not many people would know about you?
I am a closet farmer. I grew up in the valley with grandparents who once owned orchards in Sunnyvale. Someday, I plan to have my own olive orchard. There is something about working with dirt and relying on not much more than water and sun that appeals to me. I spend my free time researching and traveling to different agricultural properties around the state looking for my perfect location. What’s your favorite hobby?
I love playing Magic The Gathering or MTG. I was introduced to it while in college and became addicted. As a person who loved collecting sports cards and playing strategy games it met all my criteria to be an addiction. Because I travel frequently I cannot play as many local tournaments as I would like. However, recently, my sons and I have found that we could play each other online with our iPad/Kindles. This solves that need to get a game in. | What are you passionate about at SAP?
I share SAP’s passion through our innovation, products, and people; we can help the world run better. Technology has drastically changed how we work, live, and collaborate with each other locally and globally, and SAP is front and center in leading the technology transformation. Being part of the Cloud organization, we are contributing to drive the technology transformation in the best direction for everyone. What’s your favorite thing about working at SAP?
We are surrounded by exceptional colleagues with all different types of talents, expertise, and experience, and the brain power we have at SAP is really impressive. I currently work with Cloud Sales organizations, and being part of the team, we collaborate on projects, share knowledge, leverage everyone’s talent and creativity, and deliver the results. This is how we build a successful business at SAP. If you could have one super power, what would it be?
I would make fresh and healthy food available to all kids and all families. As a mother, I care about what our kids eat every day–yet suboptimal nourishment is a universal problem. Today, people living in poverty have little to eat, while in developed countries, people depend on processed foods, which contain too little nourishment and too many unhealthy chemicals. If fresh and healthy foods are easily available, we would all eat adequately, feel healthier, and have a more positive outlook on life. If you could do anything you wanted right now, what would it be and why?
If I have unlimited time and could do anything I want, I would devote more time to mentoring, especially for women, so society can benefit from the contributions of more empowered and self-made women. | What are you passionate about at SAP?
Innovation. Discovering it, sharing it with the SAP community, and encouraging colleagues to innovate themselves. Every position I have had and group I have worked with at SAP tries to drive innovation. We have always tried to bring the next thing to our customers so they can do their job easier and more efficiently. What’s your favorite thing about working at SAP?
Working with smart, passionate people working on amazing things. Just about every week, I learn about some group that is working on some ground-breaking project. One of our goals is to bring these groups into the d-shop, have them speak to our developers, and highlight what they have done. What’s something not many people would know about you?
While getting my degree in Engineering, after getting degrees in History and Political Science, I taught programming at a Community College and a high school in Arizona. I have three degrees and am a certified community college instructor. What’s one bucket list item?
Hike Machu Picchu. My wife and I were supposed to do this for our honeymoon, but with her in grad school, we had to do a shorter trip to Ireland. |
