SAP HANA: The Platform for Next-Generation Applications and Analytics

Big Data is the next frontier for innovation and productivity for businesses. Radical customization and novel business models will be new hallmarks of competition as companies capture and analyze huge volumes of data. The traditional way of storing and retrieving data in RDBMS databases in disks are outdated as they can no longer support today’s business needs.

SAP HANA converges database and application platform capabilities in-memory to transform transactions, analytics, text analysis, predictive and spatial processing so that businesses can operate in real-time.

This workshop offers you an insight into the new in-memory database SAP HANA, from the data provisioning into the SAP HANA database, through data modeling and the graphical representation of the data in analytics. Predictive Analytics, a Data Mining tool, will be used to introduce advanced analytic technics e.g. shopping basket analysis or forecasting.

Please bring along your own laptop for the hands-on exercises throughout the 4 days.

This workshop aims to:

  • introduce a new computing concept which
  • explain the main concepts, data replication methods and modeling techniques for SAP HANA.
  • provide deep dive into the usage SAP HANA for advanced analytics using SAP’s data mining tool, SAP Predictive Analytics

Cost:

This workshop is opened to SAP UA faculty members only and is free of charge. Each school can send up to two lecturers for the workshop. Travel, hotel and daily expenses are borne by workshop attendees. You are required to bring your own laptops.
