Life is too complicated. If you just look around it will quickly become clear that, as the old saying goes, we can never get enough of what we don’t need.

How can we get back to the simple life? Well there’s no question that getting out into nature would be a promising first step. In fact, studies have shown that when people walk in a forest their blood pressure and levels of the stress hormone cortisol immediately get lower. So why aren’t more people turning to nature?

/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wholesalesports1_786635.jpgThere was a time when humans didn’t perceive nature as being a separate entity – they were one with it. Today, nature is often regarded as a distinct entity that requires a journey to experience. Fortunately, the trees remain good listeners, and awesome hideaways in the great outdoors can still be found. But before beginning any adventure in the wilderness, there must be preparations taken, and that includes being equipped with the right gear.

One company that provides the proper equipment to people who love to experience the awesome power of nature is Canadian-based Wholesale Sports Outdoor Outfitters. They share their customers’ passion for being in the woods, on the water, or on the trails. They believe that it’s their job to make sure people are equipped with the quality gear and expert advice they need to make the most of an outdoor adventure.

Wholesale Sports was recently in search of new equipment of its own. The company’s existing open-source e-commerce platform was out-of-date and incapable of delivering the robust user experience needed to best serve its customers. After some due diligence and prompted by a strong desire to simplify, the company turned to the SAP hybris Commerce solution, with implementation by Thinkwrap Commerce, for the creation of a new online shopping experience.

The benefits that Wholesale Sports has experienced since implementing the solution include:

• Continued sales growth while reducing marketing spend, resulting in the retirement of an antiquated mail order and catalog business

• Better user experience (UX), resulting in increased conversion rates on sales

• Plans for future projects to evolve the UX and grow the business on the new infrastructure

Wholesale Sports customers are using and enjoying the new Web site like never before. In fact, they saw over a 40% increase from the previous year’s online sales. The evolving UX has also created an even better and safer experience for seasoned lovers of the outdoors as well as budding naturalists. The site is now easier to navigate and advice and expertise from the company designed to keep people safely having fun is a click away.

Now that the right gear is so easy to find, it’s time to reconnect with nature. Maybe plan a company team-building adventure, or take your work outdoors. With any effort to battle complexity, it’s normal to feel unprepared. But remember, the decision to return to simplicity is more than enough to get started.

Implementing ideas for simplification is sure to bring dramatic changes, and the good news is that your company won’t be alone on the quest. SAP is determined to help your company battle the common enemy of complexity. Consequently, this bold vision for the future of business will result in both a simpler world and simpler customer experience.

But simplicity as an operating principle in business or life is not a given, it takes work. Finding simple will require a commitment – and maybe a new tent and the expertise of Wholesale Sports. But just getting out into the great outdoors and talking to some beautiful trees is a great way to start!

Good read! The most simplified ways of doing most things or understanding the best ways of running a process can be learnt from nature like the space efficiency of a Honeycomb structure for bees. I wish we all connected with nature a little more and benefitted from it a lot more
