SAP Lumira 1.28 Webcast Question & Answer
Below are my notes from today’s SAP webcast – as always, I find the question and answer interesting, with most of the answers coming from SAP:
Q: Can you refresh BW data on the server?
A: Yes, as of 1.28 it is possible to support refresh of BW data on the server
Q: Given a SAP BI edge install, what is the minimum license requirement to use Lumira?
A: For BI edge, you need the same number of Lumira licensed as you have BI edge
Q: Blending – online view, Oracle view
A: HANA online view – can only bend with another HANA online view
Q: What’s the future roadmap?
A: The external facing roadmap of Lumira is being updated. It will re-base starting from 1.28 and contain the futures. Carlos is working on getting that out externally to you guys shortly
Q: Co you have Plan for Lumira to interoperate with Design Studio?
A: Bi-directional interop scenarios are under discussion at this point in time. Once we have concrete details, we will incorporate that as part of roadmap
Q: Support for custom geographical hierarchy?
A: Yes
Q: Do we any plan to facilitate more custom visualizations? Like D3…
A: D3 custom Vis already supported.
Q: Improvements planned for input controls?
A: Go to roadmap on SMP – continue expanding functionality for it
Q: Is there a list available which features are available on Desktop vs Server BI vs Server HANA vs Team Server?

Q: Can you please elaborate quickly on what is possible in regards of automatic data refreshment when opening the tool?
A: We are planning server-side refresh on open for acquired data sources. That is on the roadmap, and currently “planned” for end of this year.
We are looking at the force refresh upon option. Stay tuned for roadmap update on this front
