How to Manually Update the Technical Monitoring Content

With Solution Manager 7.1 SP12 and SP13 the download of the Technical Monitoring Content must be done over a secure SSL connection to SAP. If you are not able to get this configured or have an issue with getting it to work, this guide will give you a work around. Follow the instructions below to manually upload and update the Technical Monitoring content into your Solution Manager 7.1

For additional information on the new content delivery required by Solution Manager SP12 and SP13, Refer to Note 1693915 – FAQ: Rapid Content Delivery in SAP Solution Manager 7.1

  1. Download the latest version of the Content.
    1. Go to the Support.SAP.com website
    2. Navigate to the Software downloads section
    3. Select Support Packages and Patches
    4. Select Browse Download catalog

          e. Select SAP Technology Components

          f. Select SAP Solution Manager

          g. Select SAP Solution Manager 7.1

          h. Select Entry by Component

          i. Select Additional Content

          j. Select ST-CONT 100

          k. Select OS Independent

          l. Download the latest version of the content

     2. Logon to Solution Manager

     3. Execute Transaction SE38

     4. Enter the program RCSU_MANUAL_UPLOAD

     5. Select the execute button

     6. Select the Content that you just downloaded

     7. When the upload is complete you will see the message at the bottom of the screen

     8. Enter Transaction SOLMAN_SETUP

     9. Select Technical Monitoring

     10. Navigate to step 2.7 Update content

     11. Select Edit mode

     12. You should see in this step that the content is ready to be analyzed, no download is required as you just completed that task.

     13. Select Analyze Impact Before Update

     14. When complete you will get a message giving you the results of the Analysis

     15. Go back to the Update content Page

     16. Select Update to apply and activate the new content

     17. When complete you will see the update button is grey and there will be a message at the top of the screen showing you that the content has been successfully applied.

      Good write up, thank you.  Wanted to throw out a comment that this procedure is still relevant to Solution Manager 7.2, up to and including SPS 4.  The steps change a little.

      • Start in IT Infrastructure Monitoring step 2.7 as opposed to the name Technical Monitoring
      • In step 2.7 all you need to do is press the "Download" button.
      • In the resulting dialog press LAUNCH APPLICATION
      • The system sends you over to the SYSTEM Monitoring area. (also step 2.7)
      • Press the update button there.
