“Wessel is an exceptional colleague and combines ‘online expertise’ with ‘can-do-right-now’ mentality. Before you know it, he puts his creative ideas into valuable contributions. It is a pleasure to work with him and coach him!”

-Mark van Heijningen, Marketing Director SAP NL

When did you join SAP?

I joined SAP in January 2014, but already worked as an Intern & C-user since January 2012.

What did SAP offer that drew you to the company?

SAP is a strong brand and well-known company. Besides that, SAP is a global player – an international company that provides me with the possibility to work with people all over the world. This was definitely one of the reasons I chose SAP.

What is your current role?

I am working as an Industry Marketer in the Netherlands, looking after the Consumer/Services/Discrete industries, but also supporting the NNN and SCP team.

What was your experience before joining SAP?

I received my Bachelor of Arts (Creative Marketing Management/Commercial Economics) in 2012 and worked for a Marketing Agency during my studies for 2 years.

What were some of the biggest successes for you so far at SAP?

I helped accelerate some great deals and was able to add value during the sales cycle in my current role, but my biggest success was in my previous role in the Digital Team. In 2012, we redesigned the way we used Paid Search in EMEA, which generated great results and won the ‘campaign of the year’ award. I also received a Marketing Excellence award that year. That really gave me the feeling that my work was appreciated & respected.

What is your vision for your future at SAP based on your successes so far?

My passion is still in online marketing and I would love to be part of the Global Digital Marketing team one day. But first, I want to gain more marketing experience in general, not just online. The switch I made from the Digital Team to my current role as an Industry Marketer is a very conscious choice. This step will hopefully help me in my future career.
