        Hello Rv,

I went through the sap notes you referenced (1881765, 1882217 and 1847305) and cannot find the information about:

SolMan on HANA is going to be a new setup (install),

        • Can not upgrade non HANA version to HANA
        • Can not migrate traditional SolMan to SolMan on HANA.

Can you please confirm this information by SAP or send more information about this?

        Thank you!

      Hi Nicholas

SolMan 7.1 on HANA only exists for SAP HANA only customers. It’s not intended to serve other customers.

SolMan 7.2 on HANA will bring this possibility to all customers and you can upgrade / migrate from SolMan 7.1 to SolMan 7.2.

      Best regards

      Tom

        Hello Tom,

it means for customers having Solman 7.1 (RDBMS, not SAP HANA) the possibility to migrate to Solman 7.2 on SAP HANA?

        Thank you!

          Hi Alex

Yes you can migratie from SolMan 7.1 running on anyDB to SolMan 7.2 still running on anyDB or to SolMan 7.2 running on SAP HANA.

You’ll need to do a dual stack split first if SolMan 7.1 is running ABAP+JAVA since that is no longer supported in later versions of SAP Netweaver.

After the split, SUM (DMO option) can be used to migrate/upgrade the ABAP stack to SAP HANA. For the JAVA stack, a classical upgrade/migration approach is used if migrated to SAP HANA as well ~ the JAVA stack is only used for agent connectivity.

          Best regards

          Tom

    Dear Balimi,

Thanks for the information as per SAP note 1881765 can we install solution manager in HANA on a existing Suite on HANA database (without using multi ten ency or visualization).

If this is possible will it get installed as a addone to abap stack (NW version 740).

    Regards,

    Shanaka.

      Hi Shanaka

      No, that is not supported.

It should be a separate SAP HANA installation. It makes more sense to check with SAP to ramp-up Solution Manager 7.2 right now if you’re running HANA only.

      Best regards

      Tom

        Hi Tom,

Thanks for the reply, in this case we need to configure a separate SAP HANA box or visualize ECC and create a separate HANA machine for Solution manager on HANA installation rite?

where can we obtain media for this solution manager, do we need to contact SAP and request for the same?

As JAVA is not support on HANA can’t we have solution manager java functionalities (like MOPZ) when running  on HANA.

        Thank you,

        Shanaka.

          Hi Shanaka

Can you give me some insight on the context? You’re running a HANA only environment for the company you work for or for a customer?

There is SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP8 for SAP HANA only environments. This version can however not be patched further.

AS Java can run on SAP HANA but only as from specific levels 2043509 – SAP HANA and SAP NetWeaver Java on a Single Host which would be as from SAP Solution Manager 7.2 so indeed for SAP Solution Manager 7.1 it isn’t supported and you would have two instances ~ AS ABAP running against SAP HANA and AS JAVA running against anyDB (non SAP HANA).

If you’ve got the needed SAP HANA license, I would expect the files to be available on marketplace. If it’s not the case, you would need to contact SAP.

Does still take make sense? I doubt it. If you don’t have a HANA only landscape I would advise you to check with SAP for the ramp-up of SAP Solution Manager 7.2 which was build to run on SAP HANA and which allows both AS ABAP and AS JAVA to leverage SAP HANA as a database.

          Best regards

          Tom

    Hi,

Can I implement Solution manager 7.1 on HANA with a single database (no MCOS/multi tenancy) using same SID for both ABAP and Java stack ?  or is it different? I saw an SCN discussion that mentions SWPM has 2 different options separately for Java and ABAP as shown in the below screenshots. Please clarify if this is a dual stack or not.
