Creating a KPI Dashboard in Design Studio – Still No Coding Required
Before starting this I realize I should have looked at Ingo Hilgefort’s Visual BI Extensions Feature Highlight
He explains the features of the DSX KPI tile. I created the following KPI Dashboard for the iPad without any scripting or any CSS
The above shows a design time view of using the 3 Visual BI DSX KPI tiles. They include the use of microcharts – the first one one the left is a column chart, the middle is a line chart, and on the right is “spline”. I had to look up what spline charts were.
Above shows the design time view of the properties for the spline microchart part of the KPI tile.
The above image shows how the KPI tile looks at run time on the desktop on Chrome. It is a little big because I selected the iPad as the target device.
On the iPad, here is how the KPI dashboard appears:
Also on the iPad I can “over” over the microcharts to see the actual numbers:
So as you can the KPI tiles can be used without any coding or CSS knowledge. It has the alerts based on conditions created inside the properties. You can download a DSX trial yourself here.
