The start date for displaying of leave history is dependent on customizing (t-code: SPRO).

The end date is always 31/12/9999.

Two things need to defined here:

1. When to start

a. Start date as today,

b. Start of a particular calendar period (such as start of current week, start of current month, or start of current year),

c. Start of current payroll period

2. How long back to calculate

Based on this, the system calculates the start date and from that start date, all leaves until 31/12/9999 are displayed.

For e.g., if I select start of period as “As of current date” and the second part as “2 years”, then the system will retrieve leave for the past 2 years until 31/12/9999.

Obviously, in most cases, it does not make sense to display leaves too far back in history.

Typically, customers are recommended to keep the customizing such that leave is retrieved from one year ago or 6 months ago. But, this is only a recommendation from data retrieval perspective and not a feature or bug or documented in any help documentation.
