Overview

BEx and Web Application Designer do not support all features on SAP BW 7.4 powered by HANA.

During migration we were faced with major challenges which resulted in some functionality not working fine in BW powered by HANA landscape.This document gives us insight on the various issues faced by the HANA team and their resolution.

Issue Faced During Migration:

1. Broadcaster Functionality not available in WAD 7.0

2. Query Setting for queries in BW/HANA operations

3. Cell Restrcition in Bex Analyser

4. Duplicate Nodes in Hierarchy For AA

5. Before Aggregation for calculated key figure obsolete.

Issue 1: . Broadcaster Functionality not available in WAD 7.0

Issue :

Broadcaster Button Not available in WAD 7 for those WAD created in 3.5x. As a result the Broadcaster functionality doesn’t work in WAD 7.0.

How to Address it ?

We need to use Button group provided instead and embed “Launch Broadcaster” command.

Steps:

1.  Use the button group provided in standard content.

2. Determine the parameter for the button as shown below.

Issue 2 : Query Setting for queries in BW/HANA operations

Overview:

The query operation setting in BW/HANA is 3 (standard) which affects the peformance. It also cuses issues in calculation of aggregated key figures

How to address it ?

The operation in BWA/HANA cxan be changed to 6(Exception Aggregation) which will improve performance of query on HANA database.

Please note: In case of multiple queries please follow the below steps.

a. Go to T-Code : RSRT

b. Click on environment –> Query Mass maintanence.

c. Input the Info provider name which will give the related query and click on mass generation as below.

d. Click on the required property change and save

Issue 3 : Cell restriction in Bex Analyser.

Overview :

The output of Bex analyser Shows error when the number of cell record exceeds 50000 , as a result query with more than 50000 cannot be exported properly.

How to Address :

The above issue can be resolved by changing the value to the maximum value or the suitable value as per report in Table RSADMIN.

Alternate Methods :

SAP has also provided a note Note 1860872 which will help resolve memory related issue due to dump in RSRT.

Error Messages :

System exception thrown while marshaling RFCTYPE_INT to .NET type

Issue 4: Duplicate Nodes Displaying in AA for Hierarchy.

Overview :

Hierarchy property for base characteristics which are having the value “Always Show “ results in display of duplicate hierarchy values in AA.

How to Address it ?

This issue can be resolved by changing the setting for “Values of Posted Node “from “Always Show “to “Hide”.

Issue 5: Before Aggregation in Calculated Key Figure is Obsolete.

Overview :

The Before Aggregation property of calculated key figure is obsolete as a result we get error on execution of any query having the same.

How to address?

This error can be resolved by using the Standard aggregation  as shown in the below screenshots.
