RFCCallReceive Error SAP System has satus not modifiable

Symptom: Cannot see the External Metadata in BODS under SAP Applications Datastore. Below error message is shown when you click on External Metadata or try to import a table

Environment: SAP BASIS Version 7.0

SAP BW Version: 7.0

SAP BODS Version: 4.2 SP4

Cause:  The datastore setting "Generate and Execute" is for development environment and needs all the necessary permissions(SAP_BW_ALL etc) . For production you need to use ABAP Execution Option Execute Preloaded which needs none of these permissions but the DataServices provided SAP functions Z_AW_TABLE_IMPORT need to be installed. SAP datastore setting ABAP Execution Option: Generate and Execute  is not available when SAP system does not allow changes to its repository.

Resolution:

Change the ABAP Execution option to Execute Preloaded and Execute in Background(Batch) to Yes
