The adoption of SAP HANA Cloud Platform is rapidly accelerating and in order to keep pace with our fast growing customer base in the America region we are adding a second datacenter in the USA. Located in Phoenix, Arizona, this additional datacenter provides greater flexibility in regards to deployment options as well as lower latency for apps (e.g. when consumed from the West coast.)

Furthermore, having a second datacenter in the region caters to our customers’ needs for in-country data redundancy – common criteria for enterprise applications.

Last but not least… this new option contributes to SAP HANA Cloud Platform’s worldwide presence and global footprint.

Some facts about our second setup in USA that may be of interest:

  • US2 is kept in sync with EU1, US1 and AP1, hence the bi-weekly updates of the platform are being released to all locations at the same day (US2 will be updated in parallel with US1).
  • All URLs in Phoenix are similar to the already existing ones with the important difference that there is an additional ‘us2’ in the URL, e.g. https://account.us2.hana.ondemand.com leads you to the Phoenix Landing Page.
  • Like US1, US2 landscape is only available to customers. The free-of-charge trial landscape remains exclusively in Europe.

    Hi Peter,

Do you have some more information on this Data Center – where is the actual location, when does it get built? and so on?? The Scottsdale office is wondering!

Thanks Vladimir – I see it will be located in Chandler – is there a way for me to even more info? Like where in Chandler and when will it be built? or is SAP buying an existing location – there are multiple available buildings in that area. When would it be up and running?

As this announcement post reveals, it’s already live ๐Ÿ™‚ And it’s also collocated there with SuccessFactors which has been running there for quite some time already (see the tick under HCM in the linked PDF).
