On July 1, SAP Learning Hub will turn on mobile access for SAP Learning Hub and enable offline content consumption through SuccessFactors Mobile. Users can download and complete entire courses from their tablets when offline, and also access their learning plans, register for classes, and receive course assignments.

Initially SAP Learning Hub will support the offline option for all handbooks. We are working on making e-learning courses available offline too and will update subscribers about that as soon as we can. . Updates will be posted on SAP Learning Hub when these e-learning titles are available for offline consumption.

Initially only iPads (iOS 6.0 or higher) are supported but later in 2015 Android devices will also be supported. The SuccessFactors Mobile App has been released and is available in the App Store free of charge.

Once you have downloaded the app, simply launch and retrieve the Activation Code as per the image below:

Activate.JPG

Once you have the code, open up SAP Learning Hub and access Options as per the image below:

Options.JPG

Once in the Options menu, click on the Mobile tab and enter the generated activation code.  You can also name your device.

Once you have added your activation code for your iPad within SAP Learning Hub, return to the Success Factors app and Activate.  You will now be able to download and read handbooks offline.

To access your handbooks you have assigned to you, go to the Learning section in the app and you will see your handbook here ready to be downloaded.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask and for more detailed instructions, you can view a User Guide here.  You can also get support within the SAP Learner Support Learning Room on SAP Learning Hub.

    Nice feature!

It is worth noting that you will have trouble using Safari on your iPad to enter the generated activation code. This is because, when you go back to the SF app, you will be back on the first screen again and when you use “Add Profile” it will generate a new number.

So, I suggest you use a second device (laptop, phone etc) to enter the activation code.

      Hi Michael

Good point, I was kind of ‘assuming’ people would access SAP Learning Hub on their laptop as usual while setting this up but thanks for calling this out.  I must learn not to assume as much!

      Thanks

      Rob

    Hi JA

Sorry, you’re having issues – this isn’t something I have come across before, although I’m still running iOS 8.3.  Can I suggest you either:

    • ask for assistance in the SAP Learner Support Learning Room within SAP Learning Hub.  Our technical experts look after this room and will be happy to help.
    • contact e-learning@sap.com with your issue where our support team will be able to help you as well.

Hope you get up and running soon.

    Kind regards

    Rob

          Hi Alejandro

I would echo Martin’s comments, if you have specific technical issues, please do contact either e-learning@sap.com or post in the Welcome learning room (this is the new name for the Learner Support room.)

          Thanks

          Rob

    Hi to all of you,

IPad Air – i installed succesfactors – no problem.

Downloaded sucesfully a Handbook. Took a while but I’m not in a hurry.

    Then I started reading….

The lower half of the screen is filled with two!! bars for turning pages. That leaves me the upper half for reading.

When I turn the IPad 90 degrees (vertical) the screen does not respond.

You can only read with the ‘wide’ screen.

Is it possible to get rid of two bars? That would be quite normal functionality, right?

Second, has anyone been able to let the text turn with the IPad? Is that tilting in english?

I suspect there must be some customizing possibilities here, right?

Thanks for your advise on this!

    Regards,

    Mike

Flipbook? Is it neccessary to install the flipbook software seperatly on my device?

Personally I would have preferred a more common reader like PDF.

I noticed that in the official SAP install guide at the end of the document there is a screenshot where the two ‘Bars’are placed on top of each other.

That looks odd to me. Is it possible that there has been no testing beyond this point? 🙂

additional comment: the top of the page (10%) does not fit on the screen. if you push your finger downwards then the screen moves down and the text above becomes visible. But when you lift your finger the page jups back into the former position and you cannot read the upper lines.

also my ‘keyboard’ is appearing when I just want to turn a page. I suppose this is happening because the app thinks I want to key in a pagenumber?

Still not sure if it is my personal iPad related problem here or if it is more genereric. So please speak out, if you are facing the same difficulties I am facing.

      Hi Mike

Thanks for the feedback, sorry to hear you’re having difficulties.. I have forwarded your comments to our support team and will feed back here fully when I get an answer, but there may be a couple of points I can answer already.

The app can currently only be viewed in landscape mode, as you say, it can’t be turned to portrait mode.  I have found the best way to go through the handbooks is to just swipe right to left to move pages, the keyboard doesn’t come up that way.

There are updates on the way but as soon as I have any answers on the issues above I’ll be sure to post them here.

      Kind regards

      Rob

        Hi Rob,

Thanks for the Information. It seems that this app is still in the beta test phase. Not having a portrait mode ist particularly surprising as every ebook reader you can buy, displays the text in portrait mode by default.

Perhaps you could pass on a request to have a “pure book display” mode. That is, a viewing mode where only the handbook is displayed, no frame, no buttons, no anything else. Screen real estate on tablets is a precious resource. The current app version is quite wasteful.

        Regards,

        Martin

Hi All, I also downloaded succesfactors without a problem, but when downloading a course I get the message [error downloading] The URL cannot be found on the server. (e.g. course FSC020_EN_Col95) Finally I found course which I could download, but experienced the same annoying scroll bars on my screen and it is also impossible to switch from landscape to portrait mode Do you have a solution? Kr, Johan

    HI Rob

I have a problem just like JA. My app closes when I try to download The handbooh BC401. I have an iPad 3. I first tried it with iOS 8.3 then upgraded to 8.4. No difference.

I sent an email to e-learning@sap.com. I received an answer from Nicole Bernales, informing me that the e-learning team does not support the SuccessFactors Mobile app.

I tried to create an account for myself at the SuccessFactors website as my S-user is not accepted at SF, but the registration process failed.

I did open a SAP incident but I probably got the application area wrong. Do you know the correct one?

How and where do I officially create a SF mobile app for LearningHub incident?

    Regards

    Martin

Update I have been able to download the handbook BOD310 Design Studio. Perhaps BC401 is corrupt?

I do not see a download button next to some handbooks, e.g. BW350 Data Acquisition. Why not?

I’m pleased to say that we have resolved many of the issues surrounding the offline capability of the course handbooks.

We have changed the delivery output of the books so they can be displayed a lot more clearly now while still retaining the functionality to move between pages, zoom, jump to specific pages, use thumbnails etc. Hopefully the two pictures below will give you an insight to the new look and feel.

We still can’t allow books to be displayed in portrait mode, this is a limitation of the SuccessFactors app which we anticipate will be addressed later this year.

There are over 3000 handbooks within SAP Learning Hub, we are checking as many as we can to ensure they all display properly now. However, if you do come across any individual handbooks that either do not have a Download option available, or display some other error please do contact our Support team.  You can:

    • ask for assistance in the SAP Learner Support Learning Room within SAP Learning Hub.  Our technical experts look after this room and will be happy to help.
    • contact e-learning@sap.com with your issue where our support team will be able to help you as well.

Please accept our apologies for the time it’s taken to resolve these issues, we hope you’ll find the solution we’ve implemented useful.

        Hi Fred

At the moment it is just iPad that is being implemented, with Android to follow later in the year. No plans for desktop/laptop at the current time although we are aware of the request for this.

        Thanks

        Rob

        Hi Martin

Yes, that’s correct. You can use the arrows at the top of the page or the thumbnail functionality at the bottom of the page to move forward and back.

        Many thanks

      Hi Rob

turning a page is quite ponderous. I’ve got the kindle app on my iPad and it can turn a page in a fraction of a second. SF Mobile takes about 2 seconds. Any chanc of speeding things up?

        Hi Martin

I’ve just tried on three books and it works very quickly for me, no lag at all. Can I suggest you contact the support team on the channels mentioned above and hopefully they will be able to investigate to see if it’s something specific to a handbook, the iOS release you are on, or something else?

        Many thanks

        Rob

Hi Rob, I am trying to access a handbook on my ipad mini. Online I get a 404 – Not Found error message. Offline I get a Content not found error message. Are you aware of any solution for this ?

Hi, It is November 2016 and the option to download handbooks to review offline is not available in the android version of the app. When is this going to be provided to android users?
