Improvements in Production Planning Heuristics Logs in SAP APO (Part- 2/3)

In this series we see how to improve production planning heuristics logs. In part-1 and 2 we discussed how to make the improvements and how to resolve a system performance issue which may result from it. In this concluding part, we shall see some examples of it using screenshots from SCM 7.0. You can note that the actual screenshots may vary in your system depending on your configurations and may not exactly match this.

In my SAP APO system, before implementation of this improvement, the planning logs appeared like below in this step. As you can notice, it is short and there is lack of details:

After the improvement changes, the same logs appear like below:

Now, the logs show step-wise details of the sequential processing being carried out.

Some more screenshots:

What I readily observed during testing is that the level of details in the logs improved drastically. I would suggest that you can first implement the changes in testing system and test extensively and observe what kinds of improvements are made by the changes and then make a decision about whether you need the more level of details or not.
