SAP S/4HANA, cloud edition 1506: what is the scope?
Hi everyone,
On June 18, and right on time for an important milestone in the cloud, SAP has released SAP S/4HANA, cloud edition 1506 to the market. I’d like to give an overview of the functional scope of the solution. First of all, SAP S/4HANA, cloud edition 1506 includes three cloud offerings:
- SAP S/4HANA, cloud marketing edition
- SAP S/4HANA, cloud project services edition
- SAP S/4HANA, cloud enterprise edition
SAP S/4HANA, cloud marketing edition 1506
In this edition, SAP S/4HANA is enabling two key processes for marketing experts: the analysis of business partners, going from the access of the business partner fact sheet, to the ability to engage with contacts via selection criteria. The second scenario is covering the email campaign management process, from the creation of the segmentation model to the creation of the campaign to the analysis of the success of the campaign.

SAP S/4HANA, cloud project services edition
The solution is designed to support the professional services industry in the management of their projects. The scope is going from the project set-up (duration, staffing…), the project execution (time entry, collaboration…), to billing and invoicing (time and materials…).
The solution provides a central monitoring of all the projects with metrics like plan versus actual analysis, work in progress, etc. It includes Financials capabilities to manage processes around the project itself, like receivables and payments, financial planning and operations, or accounting and closing.
To better manage the procurement part of a project, the solution offers end-to-end scenarios like procure to pay, or invoice to pay. In addition, customers using SAP S/4HANA can take advantage of the native integration to the Ariba Network, SAP’s cloud-based B2B sourcing and procurement marketplace.

SAP S/4HANA, cloud edition 1506 and integration to cloud solutions from SAP
Let me just pick two examples here: the integration to SuccessFactors and to Ariba Network. Note that SAP supports the native integration to other cloud solutions like SAP JAM for Enterprise Collaboration.
In the case of SuccessFactors, the solution comprise integration of employee and employment data, transfer of working time to controlling… giving SAP S/4HANA cloud customers the ability to leverage all the capabilities of SuccessFactors. For the S/4HANA and Ariba integration, SAP is providing the ability to send a purchase order to the Ariba Network and receive the invoice from a supplier that is member of the Ariba Network.

Thanks Yannik!
What is the direction (what is the source) of integration for Project Staffing, Timesheet and working times between S/4HANA and SuccessFactors?
Thanks for your feedback Vasily. SAP has built those fonctionalities (new time sheet...) on the new codeline (s-infinity) in SAP S/4HANA as well as an outbound API to seamlessly connect to SuccessFactors. Note that this integration can be fasten by Rapid Deployment Solutions.
Thanks Yannick - so the Fiori timesheet in S/4HANA would be the single timesheet used with details fed into SuccessFactors and from there into whatever payroll solution is being used? Sounds good to me! 🙂
Will the iFlows for the S/4HANA timesheet to SuccessFactors integration be available on HCI soon - or is there a different integration solution being used?
Cheers,
Chris
HI Chris,
let me give you more details:
- when you use S/4HANA enterprise cloud edition, you have the "project timesheet" designed for the project based timesheet for the professional services edition. This time data can be recorded to the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) but not for other accounting objects.
- in SuccessFactors the timesheet is designed for payroll purposes first. The employee will record the hours he/she have worked irrespective of the projects, as it is only relevant for payroll.
- as of now, the information from Project timesheet will not be integrated into the Employee Central, or the other way also will not happen.
Hope this helps! Yannick
Cloud Edition 1506 is ... how I put it.... terrible branding. Yes I'm being blunt, but when I read it the first time, my first reaction was "???".
I imagine myself pitching this to my customers saying "Well, Cloud Edition 1506 has these scenarios....". Not gonna happen. Isn't the purpose of the Cloud to get rid of versions and always have the latest?
hi Joao,
thanks for your comments. First of all, let me know if you need support to position the solution to your customer, SAP will help you.
Regarding "cloud" and how SAP is embracing this market with S/4HANA, please check my other blog on cloud qualities. http://scn.sap.com/community/s4hana/blog/2015/07/29/sap-s4hana-enterprise-cloud-edition-1506-zoom-on-cloud-qualities
Happy to get your feedback. Thanks, Yannick
