Creating an SAP Document Center (formerly known as SAP Mobile Documents) Tile in SAP Fiori Launchpad on Cloud

General

This blog post is intended for system administrators who would like to set up an SAP Document Center (formerly known as SAP Mobile Documents) folder as a tile in SAP Fiori Launchpad (FLP) on cloud.

Prerequisites

  • You have an SAP Hana Cloud Platform (HCP) account.
  • You are subscribed to SAP Cloud Portal, and you are assigned to the role ‘TENANT_ADMIN’ for this java subscription.
  • You are subscribed to SAP Document Center, and you are assigned to the role ‘Administrator’ for this java subscription. Other users should be assigned to the ‘User role’.

One-time setup

  1. Create a corporate folder (if you have one, you can use it and skip this step):
    1. Login to the admin page of your MDocs application – https://<docsapp>-<account>.hana.ondemand.com/mcm/admin/
    2. Navigate to ‘Repositories’ -> ‘Corporate Content’
    3. Create a new repository
  2. Define your FLP URL in the trusted domains:
    1. In the SAP Document Center admin screen, navigate to ‘Settings’ -> ‘Web Client’
    2. Under ‘Additional Settings’ add your FLP URL to the ‘Allowed Parent Domains for Integration’. The URL should look like: <flpapp>-<account>.dispatcher.hana.ondemand.com
    3. Click save.

Create a shared folder

  1. Open your SAP Document Center browser: https://<docsapp>-<account>.hana.ondemand.com/mcm/browser/
  2. Navigate to the Corporate section and into the repository you created.
  3. Create the folder you would like to share.
  4. Press on the ‘i’ icon of the folder and copy the value of its ‘Web Link for Users’.

Create an SAP Document Center tile in FLP

  1. Open your SAP Fiori configuration cockpit (FCC) – https://<flpapp>-<account>.dispatcher.hana.ondemand.com/sap/hana/uis/clients/ushell-app/shells/fiori/FioriLaunchpad.html?mode=admin
  2. Navigate to ‘Create App Tile’ and follow the wizard to create a new application and tile:
    1. Give your app a name and optional description.
    2. In the Navigation step, set ‘App Type’ to be ‘SAP Document Center’.
    3. Paste the folder URL you copied in the previous section in ‘Folder URL’.
    4. In the Tile step, choose your tile type.
    5. In the Assignments step, assign the tile to the desired content packages, groups and categories.
    6. Click Finish.
  3. Preview your site by clicking the ’Preview Site’ tile in the FCC.
  4. Make sure you see the tile you just created in the catalog or the home page (according to your assignment).
  5. Click on the tile and see your folder content.

Test in runtime

  1. Preview your site by clicking the ’Preview Site’ tile in the FCC.
  2. Make sure you see the tile you just created in the catalog or the home page (according to your assignment).
  3. Click on the tile and see your folder content.

Comments

  • This integration currently does not support custom themes.
  • This integration currently requires users to login to FLP and SAP Document Center separately.

Great post. How can I get an Mdocs account with Admin privileges on it? With the trial account I register fro from the HCP Cockpit, I don't see any Administation link. Thanks.

      Hi, thanks 🙂

If you're an account administrator in HCP cockpit, add yourself to the the role 'Administrator' on the MDocs subscription (under 'Subscriptions' -> the app -> 'Roles'). then you should be able to get to the admin page by using the url mentioned above:

      https://<mdocsapp>-<account>.hana.ondemand.com/mcm/admin/

Thanks Ido Fishler. I am using a trial HCP account. I don't see any I073691-20150629-0000.jpg"mobile documents" app in my Subscriptions.

      Am I missing anything?

      Thanks.

      Hi,

I don't suppose you're missing something. You will need to get a the subscription from mobile document colleagues.

What I used is a test account valid for 30 days - https://mdocsregister.hana.ondemand.com/mcmtrial/welcome/index.jsp

If you need something productive I suggest you ask Ingo Kober.

      Hi Julien,

SAP Mobile Documents is now integrated into the HCP Trial.

In the cockpit, just go to Services - Mobile Documents - Enable.

      Regards,
      Jens

      Hello Ido / Jens,

Can we use the "SAP Mobile Document" App Type FLP Tile to access HCP Document Services (without mobile document) as well ?  I would like to expose a folder in HCP Document Services to the end users to download files like specifications, drawings etc.

      Regards,

      Parag.

No. You can't. SAP Document Center must be used which in turn can have SAP Document Service as Corporate Repository configured on SAP Document Center

Can we do this for the on-premise server as well, especially for S4Hana On-premise? Please share if you have any references.

      Thanks,

      Katta
