Introduction – Why Should I Read This?
I have been working in the SAP space since 1998. I started as a user at a company that was still running SAP R/2 when most of the rest of the world had moved on to R/3. I was a cost accountant at an automotive parts manufacturer and was responsible for all the costing runs and inventory valuation in that old system. It was a job that no one in the company wanted, they hired me right out of school so I wouldn’t know what they had in store for me. However, to me the system just made sense, the logic it used, the process it followed was routed in a logic that I got and it appealed to me.
Over the years I gave up on being a user and moved to the implementer side. I have worked both as an internal resource at large companies that run SAP and as an external implementer for a consulting company. This experience has given me a broad range of industry and system experience. My focus has been FICO with more of a focus on CO. I find modules like project systems, product costing, and profitability analysis extremely interesting to implement as they are both very powerful and flexible tools with typically very complex use cases.
I have started this blog because I have recently had the opportunity to get some hands on experience with the newer tools from SAP like HANA and Simple Finance. I have been reading all I can about the new direction of SAP with their S4 release and I would like a forum to post some of my thoughts on what I am seeing and how it is changing the traditional FICO world.
I hope you find it interesting.
