In a previous post I discussed why SAP Lumira is moving to a unified layout for its story pages. In this post I’ll describe the enhancements we are making to Infographic pages to support the new layout.

The new unified page layout (based on Infographics) will have all the capabilities of Boards and Reports:

  • Input controls
Input controls have a drop-down menu (instead of being fully expanded) to save space on your page.  You can select multiple dimensions for filtering.
  • Crosstabs
Crosstabs have more functionality than tables. When you add a crosstab to a page, you can expand the page to see every row in the crosstab, or keep a standard page size and use crosstab’s scroll bar.
  • Refresh page on open
You can set this option on your page to automatically refresh the data every time the story opens. You can turn it off to refresh the data by hand.
  • Gridlines
Grid lines make it easier to align the page’s contents in just the right way.
  • Page filter indicator
Add these to your visualizations so you know when data is being filtered, and how many filters apply to each visualization. You can turn these on or off to suit your audience.
  • Overlays
Add images, text, and graphics on top of your visualizations to make it easier to tell your story. For example, you could add an arrow to a data point, or use text to explain a trend.
  • Enhanced page size
Three different page sizes will be available. The default page size is bigger (if your screen resolution allows it), to give you more room to create your stories.
  • Explore
“Explore” your visualizations from the story page.  You can drill through hierarchies, filter data, exclude selected points, and export data records to a file.
  • Esri Geo Maps
Use the rich capability of Esri to enhance your Geo maps.
  • View-time enhancements
Filter, drill, and exclude data points at view time (including on touch devices).
  • Filter enhancements
Use input controls, filters, drilling, and "exclude" to add a filter to a page. The filter applies to all visualizations on the page and works across multiple datasets.

In an upcoming release, all these features will be added to Infographic pages to support the unified page layout.  When you open  Board and Report pages created in a previous release, they will be automatically converted to the new layout - end users may not even notice the change.
