Making lunch, making a difference!

I had the chance to volunteer with the Open Heart Kitchen at the Pleasanton Senior Center and serve lunches with my colleagues from the SAPsv Dublin office on June 10th.

Open Heart Kitchen is an organization that has been providing fresh, hot meals to anyone in need since 1995. I had a great time volunteering

for this organization in February during SAPsv’s Month of Inclusion and I was thrilled to participate again.

The day began with our volunteer group receiving a brief orientation about what would take place for lunch service. We learned that each senior citizen would receive a hot soup, a salad, a hot entrée, and a delicious dessert thanks to Open Heart Kitchen. Afterwards, each employee was assigned a specific group of seniors to work with.

I was fortunate to work with a lively group of senior citizens who I engaged in great conversation with and received positive

feedback from.

One of the great things about SAPsv volunteer opportunities is that they give employees a chance to interact with others outside their specific department. I enjoyed interacting with employees from a variety of departments and, as you can see, we all had a great time together regardless of our work area!

I am always eager to be involved in opportunities that allow me to give back to my local community and this experience was nothing short of rewarding. I am looking forward to volunteering with my SAPsv colleagues again in the near future.

Hey Lisa, thanks for sharing your experiences on volunteering, I think that things like this are a great benefit for working for a big company like SAP, and their encouragement for employees to get involved.
