UPDATE:October 2015:

The extended demo edition offering has been extended from 30 days to 90 days. If you haven’t done so already sign up for your chance to experience SAP Fiori, Cloud Edition with 25 transactional apps running against an SAP backend system. You’ll have 90 days to customize, theme and experiment with administrative capabilities in the Fiori Configuration Cockpit.

In the coming week we will release a new version of the SAP Fiori, Demo Cloud Edition. This new release allows us to provide you with updated and additional Fiori apps from additional LOBs, together with a new version of SAP UI5. Please note this upgrade will have the following impacts to you (including a few removed apps):

Some of you may have already familiarized yourself with the 19 additional apps by previously accessing them through the top banner of the SAP Fiori, Demo Cloud Edition site. If you haven’t there’s still time before the update to do so.

New Fiori Apps Will be added:

Once the update is released you’ll be able to further enhance your SAP Fiori, Demo Cloud Edition experience by extending, theming and managing 14 of the new Fiori apps in the extended demo edition! In addition, all of the Fiori apps in the demo edition and extended demo edition will be updated to a new version. Below is a list of the 19 newly added apps, the ones marked with the symbol in the bottom right corner are only available in the demo edition, the other 14 apps are available in both the demo and extended demo editions. Each tile is linked to the SAP App Reference Library where you can obtain more information and learn about related apps.

4 Fiori Apps Will be updated:

My Benefits, My Leave Requests, My Timesheet, and My Paystubs apps will be updated to version 2. With this update the apps will not be backward compatible, meaning you will need to re-do any extensions you made in the previous version. You have a weeks’ time to review your customization’s and prepare accordingly.

6 Fiori Apps will be Removed:

Check Price & Availability, Create Sales Orders, Change Shipping Address, Track Sales Orders, Customer Invoices, and Order from Requisitions will be removed from the extended demo offering but will remain available in the demo offering. These apps are not currently customizable in the extended demo offering so we hope this change brings little inconvenience to your SAP Fiori, Demo Cloud Edition experience.

Update to New SAPUI5 Version:

We will be updating to the latest SAPUI5  version which will affect all custom theming you may have previously done. Some of you may be aware that we released theme designer on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform in beta mode, as a result we anticipate this causing issues to custom themes when we update the UI5 version. Therefore, we want you to be prepared and know that you will need to take the following steps to use your custom theme in the SAP Fiori, Demo Cloud Edition:

  • From your SAP Fiori, Demo Cloud Edition extended demo account go to customize theme -> launch UI theme designer
  • By default the custom blue crystal theme will be displayed in preview mode. From the top right corner choose Theme -> Close
  • On the themes page choose Import and re-import your theme into theme designer
  • Save a draft of the theme by choosing Theme – Save draft and then export your theme by choosing Theme ->Export and save it to your desktop
  • Close out of theme designer and return to your extended demo offering and import your theme again by using the import theme option

For more information on what has changed in the latest SAPUI5 release please reference what’s New is OpenUI5 (Version 1.28).

We regret any inconvenience that is caused to you by these updates. We hope the benefit of the new apps and added functionality will outweigh any discomfort caused to the work you previously did. Please continue to enjoy your SAP Fiori, Demo Cloud Edition experience and we look forward to offering you more in the future and hopefully hearing about your experiences in SCN!

      Hi Liz,

thanks for sharing this. I use this demo site quite often to quickly demonstrate Fiori on my smartphone or tablet or to get an impression how SAP solved several UI challenges.

The new and revamped apps will help here even better

      Best regards

      Hi Tejas,

Excellent point, thank you for bringing it to my attention. My assumption is the same as yours but to be sure I will run this past development to confirm.

Of course tips and comments are always welcomed in SCN but another, perhaps additional, option would be to leverage the give feedback option in the demo. This feature allows you to rate your experience but also provides a field for free text where you can write any issues or observations you see, the feedback goes directly to the SAP development team.

      Thanks,
      Liz

Wladimir Friess you should still find those 3 apps in the Logistics group of the demo (you just are not able to extend them).

      Hi Jeremy,

thanks for you comment. Unfortunately I am not able to see them in the logistics group:

Also there is no further logistics group available in the catalog.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a different link available ?

      Thanks,

      Hi Wladimir,

The image you're showing is of the extended demo edition, where you can extend apps. The demo version is a step earlier. Google Fiori demo and select see demo in action, scroll down and you'll see the Logistics SD group Jeremy mentioned.

Hi experts, i do have some doubts regarding the new demo apps. May i know why when clicked to extend the application, it showed no code for adding button in the footer but in the user interface, there is buttons in footer. When tried to add in footer, it doesn't work. Below is an example of new demo apps My Inbox.

      Hi Elizabeth Thorburn,

I am getting this error, when I try to add a new image or do any task on UI Theme designing. The window does not close on click of OK nor the X close button.

      Please suggest what went wrong.

I do not have an answer off hand but I have sent an email internally to find more informaiton. In the meantime I suggest you post this as a seperate question in the Fiori community, that way while we wait maybe someone else has experienced the issue and could provide some guidance.

From the demo version, there's a help button available on the Launchpad header. Is there a way I can add the same button to my Launchpad? Is this function already released for public?

      Thanks.

      Thank you for the information.

I understand that the demo version is for Apps version 2 (on Hana DB), since most of the customers are not running on S/4 Hana on their ecc system, is there a demo for apps version 1 (any db version).

I'm looking for My Timesheet App Version 1 demo, so I could show to our customer.

      Thanks

Hi, how do I publish a theme for the demo?

      Capture.PNG

The Publish option seems to be missing?

or am I missing something else?

Perhaps - it is I export the theme and then in Fiori site, create an new theme and import the exported zip?

btw - this approach seems to work, but isn't very obvious.

      Hi Chris,

I see this same error when working with themes - so far, it hasn't seemed to cause any actual issues for the demo work I do with the platform, however it is a bit annoying and distracting when trying to show this stuff to potential customers.

      Cheers,

      G.

I run the same scenario right now and didn't manage to reproduce it... (sorry!).

      Thanks!

Noting that this was just a warning I have stepped past it, it then allowed the theme to upload. Perhaps it was because the site was running on "Innovation Level"?

      Author's profile photo Aviad Rivlin
      Aviad Rivlin

Ahh... the 'innovation level' is the issue most likely.

Thanks Aviad, As I said, not very obvious, but it works. The whole concept of having the theme stored in the cloud in the designer, but then having to export to local storage, just to then re-import to cloud doesn't really make sense - but I guess that's a hangover from the on-premise roots of the launchpad.

      Cheers,

      Chris

      Aviad

      Author's profile photo Chris Paine

Although I think it might be that "cloud" designer just stores the created themes in local storage anyway - so it doesn't go up to the "cloud" at all... Anyway, "publish to site" option would be good! šŸ˜€

      Thanks for the help,

Elizabeth Thorburn, I've found a list of 34 apps available in the configuration panel of SAP Fiori, Am i correct ?

On the other hand, I've a question about the security space , in the on-premise architecture of SAP Fiori , we need a SAP Web Dispatcher ; it is the same case for HCP ? I would think that security is included as a service (SSL , Auth, etc) ?

      Look forward for your comments,

      Rodolfo

      Hi Rodolfo,

I'm not Liz but I think I can also answer your questions.

On HCP you don't need a Web Dispatcher cause HCP is running in the Cloud. SAP is doing all the infrastructure stuff for you.

      Yes security services are included.

      • On transport layer SSL is used.
      • Authentication is done via SAML. Per default SAP Identity Service is activated but you can also use your own SAML IdP.

Additionally at the moment there are the following security services available inside HCP.

      • Authorization Management. Platform API for managing roles and their assignments to users.
      • Keystore Service. Secure repository for cryptographic keys and certificates.

      • OAuth 2.0 Service. Protect applications and APIs with OAuth 2.0.

      Regards Helmut

      Hi Rodolfo,

Yes, there is a limited number. You can see the full list from this blog. You could also access the demo edition to see the apps in action and the extended demo edition to get hands on experience with the cloud edition for 90 days. Note: The demo edition offers more apps for demo purposes then are available in the cloud edition offering. The blog I mentioned above will be maintained so you can keep that bookmarked as the single source of truth.

      Hi,

I would want to extend the following apps in the demo edition:

Check Price & Availability, Create Sales Orders, Change Shipping Address, Track Sales Orders, Customer Invoices, and Order from Requisitions.

Since these apps are removed in the extended version (version 2), will I be able to extend these apps in the old version?

      Hi Vishnupriya,

Unless you are asking for clarification/correction of some part of the Document, please create a new Discussion marked as a Question.  The Comments section of a Blog (or Document) is not the right vehicle for asking questions as the results are not easily searchable.  Once your issue is solved, a Discussion with the solution (and marked with Correct Answer) makes the results visible to others experiencing a similar problem.  If a blog or document is related, put in a link.  Read the Getting Started documents (link at the top right) including the Rules of Engagement.

NOTE: Getting the link is easy enough for both the author and Blog.  Simply MouseOver the item, Right Click, and select Copy Shortcut.  Paste it into your Discussion.  You can also click on the url after pasting.  Click on the A to expand the options and select T (on the right) to Auto-Title the url.
