Ajax Framework Page with Blue Crystal Visual Design
In Enterprise Portal 7.31 SP14 / 7.4 SP9 a new feature was introduced Ajax Framework Page in IE standards mode
This feature allows you to run standards based content e.g HTML5 / UI5 / Fiori applications inside the AFP Shell.
This is the reason why in 7.31 SP16 / 7.4 SP11 we introduce AFP Standards with SAP Blue Crystal theme and Fiori User Experience.
The Blue Crystal theme will only be supported while using AFP in standards mode because it was designed for UI5 and Fiori applications.
New visual design for the pop-up
New visual design for the role entries in the TLN and overflow buttons.
Notice that the Detailed Navigation (DTN) is now without the curves you used to see in bottom and top right side.
New parameters for the background colors of those elements were exposed for the UI Theme Designer allowing you to easily customize the theme.
In the following screenshot you can see a very small example of theming possibilities (as you imagine no designer will pick these colors 🙂 )
We tried to keep this theme as lean as possible and to adhere to the simple clean look of Fiori User Experience.
Hope you like it.
Hi Saar
Thanks for this blog. Really liked a leaner version of the framework. I was discussing the possibility of a UI5 based lean look & feel for Portal with one of my clients, and there we go SAP added it in the new SP.
apart from the UI5 & Fiori based, will the abap webdynpro / HR renewal application ivews run correctly ? It should run, but just checking.
Regards
Sandip
Hi Sandip,
The iViews should run correctly as long as they are configured to render in the correct state i.e quirks or standards.

Hi Saar,
We upgrade our SAP NW Portal to SP11 (with lastest patches) and I have tried to use AFP Standard Mode with Blue Crystal theme.
But I faced with next issue: while portal framework page (desktop) uses css and resources files under http://<host>:<port>/com.sap.portal.design.portaldesigndata/themes/portal/sap_bluecrystal/ and displayed correctly, all applications try to use
http://<host>:<port>/com.sap.portal.design.urdesigndata/themes/portal/sap_bluecrystal/ and displayed without style since last URL doesn't exist.
What the reason of such behavior? Whether it can be related to switch off less-css supporting?
The issue is actual for many types of applications/iViews: WDA, WDA FPM, SAP GUI for HTML,Service Maps, UWL, WDJ, KM Navigation, BEx Web Analyzer, Design Studio BI Report.

Dmitriy
Hi,
please note you can also run Web Dynpro ABAP and HTML GUI applications as long as there version already support Blue Crystal (see SAP note 2000125).

Hi Uwe,
And what about Web Dynpro for Java? Dose it support Blue Crystal starting from 7.4 SP11? KM, BEx?
BR,
Dmitriy
hi
did you get response for this?
Hi Dmitriy,
The blue crystal theme is supported in WD Java, you can refer to the note 2261727 for more details, for NW 7.4 it supports from SP13 onwards.

Rohit
Hi Saar,
it woud be nice if the custom css tab in UI theme designer would be also supported for AFP when using themes based on Blue Crystal. E.g. I found no way to customize the background color of the breadcrumbs. Currently, I just manually change the css files in the web resource repository to overcome that limitation, but this is of course cumbersome, because it gets overwritten everytime I update the theme.
