Last Friday(May 15th) we have had the opportunity to contribute to the expansion of SAP CodeJam into yet another corner of the world: Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The topic for which we have gathered has been SAP HANA with IoT, Craig Cmehil being the expert on the topic .
For several hours we have had the chance to play around with some very versatile Tessel devices, that are up and running with literally just a few lines of code and can read a lot of environmental data using the plug&play modules that come with it (or as Craig would say, “no university degree in electrical engineering required”).
Without giving away too much of the fun, on the “software side” the data has been captured using OData services deployed in the cloud, persisted in a HANA database, with a UI5 visualization built on-top.
At the end of the day a lot of participants left with a smile on their face, having spent 6 very engaging hours trying out the latest SAP technologies.
So in conclusion 30 enthusiastic participants, guided by HDE Craig Cmehil, a lot of programmable hardware, and even more food, have all been the ingredients to a very successful event, that we hope will be the first of many to come!
Here are some pictures from the event. Bon appetit!
