Walking into SAPPHIRE NOW 2015 was awe inspiring and humbling at the same time. The initial feeling is one of “wow – this is big” … and I mean big.

It is a beehive of activities, thousands of attendees, partners, exhibitors, event staff and colleagues all going about their individual tasks.  Then suddenly it dawns on you that there are probably millions of people “out there” whose own livelihoods depend on SAP and the success of SAP in some shape or form. This is humbling and gives a great sense of responsibility.

The good news is we are getting it right.  There was a real sense of anticipation in the air around S/4HANA, HANA, cloud, mobile, fiori … etc.  Customers are really re-thinking how they run their businesses.  They are talking about new business models that were not possible before but can now be imagined and realised.S4HANA.jpg

The big question repeatedly being asked was “how can SAP help us on the journey”?  How can we help “imagineer” and “co-engineer” the solutions of the future? In MaxAttention, we want to be the partner on this journey.  I had many meetings in the MaxAttention lounge and one thing was clear.

Our Next Generation of MaxAttention story makes sense to our customers.  In fact, most discussions were so focused on the opportunities of the future that we did not talk about the challenges of the past.

The message is simple and yet very powerful – as a customer you will not have to walk alone on this journey to Digital Transformation in the cloud.  We care as much about the success that our customers achieve with our solutions, as they do.  We care about the costs it takes to implement and operate and we care about the time to value …

I am still a techie at heart and hidden in the buzz of the business opportunities coming from S/4HANA etc. I found a gem.  The story of “Zero Downtime Maintenance” .

Imagine upgrading the core of the bank without the critical processes going down at all.  This is solving a challenge that has been around as long as the software itself.  It was not only I who was impressed – this project won the Hasso Plattner Founder’s Award last year!

Can you imagine what happens if we bring together the great business value of S/4HANA, a long-term Service Engagement for the journey and the technical capability to realise this without disruption…..

…  that is the real “wow” of SAPPHIRE NOW 2015.

These are exciting times and we are only at the beginning. I cannot wait to see what more the future holds…
