I regularly get questions about the HL7 adapter and IAH adapter, and possible differences.

This small document is just to highlight there are no differences. There is only a difference in the configuration you can go for.

On SAP PI systems, you have/had the HL7 adapter available:

After our fresh SAP PO 7.4 installation, SAP offered a new version of the adapter and suddenly, it was the IAH adapter.

IAH stands for Integration Adapter for Healthcare. The name shift is just because the name ‘HL7’ was already taken and protected.

This is how it looks like on a SAP PO 7.4 system

The only thing I added is the adapter version within the SWCV name.

Let me also point to the great IHE Configuration Guide. You can find all relevant and necessary information to successfully implement the Enterprise Services of SAP Patient Management for inbound and outbound communication and to use them either directly or in combination with HL7 messages in an IHE compliant way.
