SAPPHIRENOW 2015 provided great updates around the SAP HANA Cloud Platform. Most of them were explicitly mentioned in the corresponding official SAP Press release.
One update which might not have found its way through all the communication is one around the HANA Distinguished Engineers (HDE) program.
But what is the HDE program? As the FAQ site describes
“… The Distinguished Engineer program is an SAP-sponsored, community-led effort to address this perceived skills gap in the HANA technical community, and to recognize those with a high level of technical skills, as well as embracing those who are learning and are on their way to gaining skills.“.
At SAPHHIRENOW 2015 the HDE program came up with two new announcements.
HCP joining the HDE program
The first announcement was around the SAP HANA Cloud Platform joining the HDE program.
From now you can also nominate people with skills on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform (HCP). Along with this announcement we’ve started with 4 new HDEs in the HCP area. These are the first HCP HDEs that we’ve announced:
As part of this involvement the HDE council got also a new council member to represent SAP HANA Cloud Platform in the HDE program.
New HDE website
The second announcement was around the new website for the HDE program.
With the new site we want to attract much more visitors and in the end motivate developers in becoming HDEs, too, and to join this hall of fame for HANA related know-how.
Call for action: apply to become an HDE for HCP today!
So in case you want to become one of the “technical elite in the HANA community” just review the qualification criteria for HDEs and check if you feel a colleague you know (or even yourself) should become an HDE for HCP. After that use the nomination form to submit your proposal.
Once the council reviews your proposal you might become an HDE, too.
Wishing you good luck and spread the word around the HDE program
