How to Enable Appeon on Chrome Version 42
Appeon no longer works in Chrome (version 42) without changing the NPAPI setting to enable plug ins.
To enable it:
- Enter: chrome://flags in the browser’s address bar and hit enter.
- Search for the Enable NPAPI option (Enables the use of NPAPI plugins.) and enable it. This is located about 10 options down from the top.
- Restart chrome.
Google plans to completely remove NPAPI support in version 45, due in September.
What will appeon do for chrome support in october?
appeon is working on it.
in the meantime, there is always firefox
Correct. However, they have a PPAPI that plugins can use instead. That's why Flash still runs on Chrome even though NPAPI has been blocked. The folks at Google actually did the conversion of the Flash player from NPAPI to PPAPI and included the player by default with Chrome:

Do you know if Oracle plans a PPAPI version of the Java plugin?
So far no. And there is no sign that Oracle is interested in doing one.

" As it is unclear if these dates will be further extended or not, we strongly recommend Java users consider alternatives to Chrome as soon as possible. Instead, we recommend Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari as longer-term options. "
