sitFRA – Community at its best

Two weeks ago the first ever SAP Inside Track took place in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. sitfra was a great community event and showed “Community at its Best!” as shouted out on twitter by the @SAPMentors. True in all accounts 🙂

For a first time event sitFRA was greeted with a great enthusiasm by the community.. We had a packed room, sold out since weeks.. So what to do? Of course a selfie was in order. In the front you can see from right to left Christian Braukmueller, Tobias Trapp and myself – Hendrik Neumann  – your sitFRA organizing team together with the amazing people that made sitFRA this awesome event!

Relive sitFRA

To relive sitFRA head over to Storify, take a look at the sitFRA Tagboard or read the blog post written by  Christian Drumm and  Renald Wittwer‘s community tour story. There is more… watch this great video from  Patrizia Rossi and enjoy the photo galleries by Frank Koehntopp and myself. All of the above capture the atmosphere perfectly!

A whole lot of thanks

A big thank you goes out to our speakers, without them the event would not have been possible! They provided outstanding quality during their entertaining and insightful sessions. Slides are linked when available on the wiki page at www.sitfra.de.

Especially non-technical sessions enrich a day full of tech stuff and hence Fred and Jasmine deserve a special shoutout! Fred for his “Women in technology” session and Jasmine for her first rate comedy show about the different ways women and men take off their shirts.. 😉

Besides the speakers many helping hands made sitFRA possible. Special thanks goes to Michael Schneider, Yanko Stoychev, Alexander Beckmann and Pascal Möller, the AOK Systems staff on duty and everybody else lending a helping hand (Martin, Nils, Renald,… you know who you are!).

Great sponsors made the event possible free of charge! Big thanks for the community engagement goes to AOK Systems, UnitCon, BridgingIT, Majer Training, @CBasis and SAP Press.

Community get-together

SAP Inside Tracks are not only about knowledge transfer but also a big SCN family meet-up. During the day one could always spot groups of people discussing what they just learned or just chat happily away.

Evening events

The evening events are great for getting to know new people or catch up what’s happening in the lifes of old friends. At sitFRA we had two pretty cool evening events on schedule… 😉

On Friday night we went out to dinner with everybody already in town. We headed to the Zimt & Koriander, a nice restaurant in a dungeon like cellar in the city center of Frankfurt. After a yummy dinner we divided up into team hotel and team beer bar… The craft beer fans and night owls went to the Naiv to try some of special beers out of their 50 beers+ menu.

On Saturday night we closed the event with a reception with beer and Apfelwein at our venue and almost half of the attendees went out together afterwards. We headed south to Sachsenhausen to a traditional Hessian Apfelwein restaurant: Apfelwein DAX. Grüne Soße, Handkäse and Frankfurter Schnitzel have been on the menu and the Apfelwein found lots of new friends 😉

After the SIT is before the SIT

We are happy to hand over the baton to sitHH in June, followed by sitMUC in October and sitNL in November. Furthermore Vitaly announced an upcoming SIT in WrocÅ‚aw – stay tuned and watch the Inside Track space and the Community Wiki on SCN for news about upcoming SITs in your region.

What’s next for sitFRA?

We would like to share the organizational practices and technical solutions we used to host sitFRA in an upcoming blog series. Along the way we plan to publish our solutions on our sitFRA GitHub account for the community to use and build up on.

And of course the local SAP community will meet again at our next SAP Stammtisch, which will be on the 29th of April.

Had a blast at #sitFRA! You wouldn't think it was the first time you organised it. So very professional and with attention to the smallest details. Very impressive! Sessions were of high quality and the venue was perfect! A big thanks to you, Christian & Tobias for making it happen! You rock!

      hey Roel,

thanks for the praise 🙂 But we have to give it back... without the outstanding sessions from our speakers (like yourself) sitfra would not have been the great event it turned out to be..

      Cheers
