On March 11th, SAP hosted long-time University Alliances (@SAP_UA) member and productive use customer, Northern Kentucky University (@NKUedu) at #SAP Labs in Palo Alto.  About 20 undergraduate and graduate students and 3 faculty/staff from the College of Informatics  were immersed into a day of #innovation and #entrepreneurship  – topics of huge interest to NKU and SAP.

On the University Alliances side, Scott Jones (@scottjonesma) planned the day and he hosted students as his last official fellowship activity with the team.  Keith Harmon (@HarmonKeith) led planning for the HER team.  Scott and Keith put together an amazing agenda and brought in top notch Palo Alto leaders and experts to provide students with an insider’s view of SAP and a shared their perspective on how students could work like a #startup within SAP!

Aiaz Kazi (@aiazkazi) welcomed students and faculty to SAP, Scott provided an introduction to the latest SAP technology.  Mark Noronha (@MarkNoronha) shared the Student Entrepreneurship and SAP Startup Focus programs.  Then students had the opportunity to spend time in the d.Studio (@dstudioSAP) in building 8, with Ward Bullard (@wardbullard) giving a tour then leading a #DesignThinking mini-workshop.

Feedback from students and faculty was very positive. The Associate Dean of the College of Informatics shared her perspective afterwards.

Thank you for the fabulous visit to SAP on Wednesday.  Lunch on the rooftop, tour and Design session were all well-done and interesting.  I particularly appreciate how the Designers got our students to consider the importance of involving the customer in product development.  We lecture it repeatedly, but having them actually design something that isn’t software drove this home in a way that I can’t.

Dr. Maureen Doyle, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Associate Dean of Informatics, Northern Kentucky University
