For 70 years, the VELUX Group has created better living environments around the world by manufacturing roof windows and
accessories. Operating in 11 countries, conducting sales in 40 countries, and employing 10,000 people, we  pride ourselves on high-quality products, how we conduct business, and its standard of global citizenship.

As our company continued to grow so did the challenge of accessing and sharing data across the enterprise. We found ourselves struggling to keep up with demands from business units for better analytics.

The business challenges:

We knew we had to find a model to provide better business intelligence (BI) to internal users, at lower costs with fewer
resources. We had
lot's of dependency on core resources whenever someone wanted new reports or wanted something changed. Many reports were used just to extract data to create custom reports in spreadsheets and distribute them manually. We wanted to foster the idea that many people wanted to do their own reports, and get results faster, so we sought out to create systems that made that easy to do.

The solutions provided:

First of all The VELUX Group has focused on enabling self service reporting and increasing the general information sharing in the organization. This has primarily been done via an implementation of BW on HANA in combination with a global roll out of SAP Business Objects
Business Intelligence Solutions. Users were given a broad range of tools to choose from:

- Web Intelligence for reporting

- Analysis for ad hoc analysis

- Design studio for dashboards

Currently deployments of SAP Lumira and Explorer is ongoing.

The benefits:

Faster data delivery: Via SAP HANA we can now integrate to new data at an unprecedented rate. Improving the relevancy of the platform.

Better report performance: Average report performance has increased across the entire BI platform.

Beyond budgeting: SAP BPC on HANA made it possible for us to move to rolling forecasting and planning

The right tool for the job: The broad suite of front ends makes it possible to match a broad range of needs

More users: User base has increased from 800 to 2.400 users

Future visions:

We have high ambitions for BI and analytics. We are looking at plans for mobile reporting, predictive anlytics as well as Big Data all supported from the same enterprise platform.
